Tried to stop here for lunch on a bike ride. Challenged by the landlord with ‘can I help you’ as I was on a bicycle. Told me to leave my bike in the car park in a supercilious and condescending manner. I have not had to do this before and sat beside my bike usually so I didn’t have a lock. Still surprised by being challenged for daring to consider entering, I left. A fellow visitor on a motorcycle stopped me down the road to tell me his behaviour didn’t improve after I left., with others asking him to stop singing, to which apparently he said something along the lines that he can do what he likes, he owns the place. The biker had stopped me as he was incredulous by the poor behaviour and that as he had left the landlord called out to him ‘knock that cyclist off if you see him’. Awful behaviour. I’ve dropped in on my cycle rides when it’s open over the last ten years. I’m not a local or a croney but have never had any issues with my bicycle before, but then again I have never met this man before. I won’t be back. There’s a pub down the road with good food and a welcoming atmosphere. This place is easily avoided. It doesn’t sound like I’ll be the only one avoiding from now on.

We had a family event in the village and we booked all the rooms at the pub. The guests were complimentary about all the rooms. Despite having no chef the owner bent over backwards to help, so we were able to take in our own breakfast for our guests which the pub staff set up beautifully for us. We carried on the family event in the evening at the pub and again all the staff were more than accommodating letting us bring in leftovers to nibble whilst socialising and drinking in the pub. Thank you all at the yew tree.

Excellent - nice rooms, lovely pub with restaurant, nice village to wander around, convenient for the airport. We would use this place again, not very expensive when compared to airport hotels. We had an evening meal, again very good and served quickly, lovely to sit outside and look over to the church. Recommended!

7 of us went to The Yew Tree restaurant in Manuden for Sunday lunch today. The atmosphere was so welcoming, warm and cosy. The service was second to none. A super choice of food on the menu. We all opted for the traditional roast dinner and we weren't disappointed. My beef was cooked to perfection and was accompanied with roast potatoes, roast carrots and parsnips', red and green cabbage, topped off with Yorkshire pudding and gravy. It was one of the best roasts I have had in ages. Complements to the chef!! The service was excellent with someone on hand to get any additional drinks etc promptly. A wonder dining experience. Thanks to you all!!!!

This is a review for the restaurant and pub. Have been going back to the Yew Tree as the food is extremely good, the pub and atmosphere is great. Have tried other pub menus in the area and this far better than any others I have tried.

Amazing find close to Stansted airport. Great people, can’t wait to come back next time I’m in the area. The food was excellent and the pub atmosphere was warm and welcoming! Give the bigger hotels a pass next time you’re here!

Came across this gem of a place last Sunday. We stopped for a late lunch as a group of 4. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent. Best burger I have had in a very long time. Amy in particular tended to all our needs, and is a credit to the team. We will defo return again someday soon for more yummy food and lovely relaxed atmosphere. Thank you 👍😀

Stayed here before an early morning flight . Comfy , clean and functional. Landlady was super friendly. Car parking was included in the price (which was excellent ) . Didn’t have time for a meal which was a pity as it looked lovely . Would recommend
