Tabulia Tree

Nothing good to say about this place. Rooms are dark and tired, coffee machine in room but charge you £2.50 for a single pod for it, in a country that grows coffee! No water provided in the rooms. There is a safe but you have to pay for the key. Rooms are tiny and very claustrophobic. Bathroom was disgusting with stains around the toilet and sink. Shower cubicle was dirty. Used the onsite dining facilities for breakfast, options are limited. Restaurant is directly on a busy road with open sides so have the fumes from passing traffic. Was present when an elderly guest fell, cutting her head. There was no first aid on site and only kitchen towel was offered to stem the bleed. Fire extinguishers are non existent with only one in reception and considering the rooms are of wooden construction does not give you confidence in an emergency. Badly run tired property needs a revamp.

Do not recommend. Rooms are old, air smells Moldy. Staff doesn’t seem to care to help. We checked in to one room and then had to move due to issues. The next room was terrible mold smell. Debated just moving to a different location rather than “tough” it out one more night. Asked for towels 3x and they were never delivered. Pool is ok.

We had a lovely stay at Tabulia Tree! The staff were wonderful — very friendly and welcoming! And a special shout-out to Enrique, who went way beyond the call of duty to help us feel welcome throughout our stay! The hotel grounds are beautiful, with gorgeous flora and lizards, macaws and other wildlife. The pool is a great amenity, and we really enjoyed the breakfasts we had, as well as dinner at the hotel. A couple refreshes to some of the fixtures in the room, and this would be a 5++ stay! We had a wonderful stay and would come back! (And a big hello from Minnesota to Salim & Nina, the two cats who were adopted by the hotel staff and who are a friendly presence at the hotel reception desk!😁😸😸)

The Hotel is a lot simpler than what it looks in the pictures and it need restructuring. Despite we had a "De Luxe" room, inside it is very simple and you will only have a 50cm wardrobe in the bathroom, close to the shower !". We had to use our extra single bed as wardrobe. They provide coffe machine but not coffee or tea....which is a non sense. Better to remove it. Staff is very kind but sometime miss the basics of the Customer Service: Cat's food is just in front of the small reception and you have to make attention to avoid it. The doors of 2 bathroom are always open close to the Reception...not nice to see. You have to know that it is 5 km away from Manuel Antonio beach and 2 km from Quepos. You need to take bus or taxi for everything.

Just back from our visit to Costa Rica, stayed at the Tabulia Tree Hotel. The staff was wonderful, John at the front desk was warm and welcoming. Enrique whom we met in the restaurant our first night was funny and very welcoming. The food in the restaurant was for the most part delicious. I was prepared for a very loud stay from some of the reviews. It is by a road as are most of the places to stay along the route. So it didn't get loud until around 0500. Which was ok, since we got up early to explore the area. Saw all kinds of Flora and Fauna on the property. Macaws nesting in the trees, iguanas meandering around the property. All in all, we enjoyed our stay. Thank you to the staff that made us feel welcome. The temps were way hotter than we were prepared for and most of the staff said the temps were unusually hot for March.

We stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights while visiting Manuel Antonio National Park. It is a very lovely little hotel situated on a hill and attached to a restaurant that provides free breakfast for its guests (check to make sure your room has it included, I believe some rooms did not). Things we liked - the rooms were very clean, well arranged, there was a small safe (you have to get a key from the desk), A/C (very needed - it is quite hot and humid in the area), a fairly large pool with a bar and lounge chairs (free), and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Also bonus - they have a cat! (or possibly a couple of them). Breakfast was nice, a few choices and some add-ons like bacon, ham etc. that you have to pay extra for but I thought they had enough options - typical breakfast, ham and cheese sandwich and yogurt and granola as well as coffee/tea and orange juice. Wait staff were great too. The entire building is very beautiful, there is a lush green garden all around, hammocks by the rooms outside and the furnishings were nice too. Things that could be better - NOT entirely an accessible hotel, I cannot stress this enough! They do have golf carts and will drive you up to your rooms (the rooms are up a hill as well) and I believe if you have a wheelchair, you might be able to go up the ramp to the rooms as well but don't quote me on that. The golf carts are not available 24/7 so if you cannot walk down the stairs or down the hill on the path, you might end up stuck in your room or down by the reception. The restaurant is down some stairs as well. Big tip - inspect your room when you get in! We noticed our room had some existing damage to the night stand and bed headboard and immediately reported to the manager to ensure we were not charged for existing damage (they were aware of it and sent someone up just to check but did not give us any trouble!) - take pictures when you get in and let management know if you notice anything. Overall, would recommend this hotel. Very nice, ample parking and easy to find. Walking distance to a few nice restaurants and short distance from the beaches and Manuel Antonio National Park as well as the neighbouring town of Quepos if you need groceries (note, no fridges in the rooms!).
