Gondwana Kalahari Anib Lodge

We have stayed at Camp2go properties on a number of occasions. This one needs some attention to detail by management. The braai grid and tongs were filthy when we arrived, the kettle had no whistle lid and the shower water didn't heat up permanently. It got warm, then cold, then warm again. The Kalahari is a place of longing for many and what a great way to experience it here - in a tent! This lodge is rather big, yet it feels like a oasis - quite a big oasis, I might add. The tents, however, a league of their own. This is where we felt the isolation and remoteness we associated with the Kalahari. The tents were an exhilarating change to the other accommodation we had in Namibia. They were spotlessly clean and comfortable. Who needs WiFi, if you can listen to the dessert birds at night, while giraffes and ostriches pass by the tent in the evenings. Star gazing from the tent was amazing and, to be honest, I am pretty proud of my milky way photo! The lodge itself was modern and appealing. Good cuisine, nice staff. 2 swimming pool and a playground for the kids. The sundowner game drive was excellent, and the only time and place in Namibia that we saw Marabou storks and owls.

It was our first stop at the 12-day trip around Namibia. The lodge exceeded our expectations. We had a two-room cabin, with access to a terrace from both rooms. Sitting in a hanging chair we could observe elands, ostriches, springbok and oryxes passing by. At night the sky was covered with stars and even the milky was visible. Fantastic view. Dinner and breakfast were opulent (buffet). Wine selection for dinner was surprisingly wide and good. Staff friendly and helpful. In the evening it was pretty cold in our cabin but within 5 min. someone came and fixed the heating. The whole place was very clean.
