Dream of Africa Bush Lodge

The lodge, rooms, fireplace and pool were a real treat. Having a dam on the property was an experience too. The food was excellent and our hosts went out of their way to make it feel homely and the conversations were really interesting.

Val and Neil were quite welcoming. We enjoyed staying at their place which is conveniently situated close to the Kruger where they were also able to arrange a game drive for us. Val also assisted us with booking for our quad biking and shared information around other activities in the area with us prior to our arrival enabling to plan out our itinerary for the weekend. She was always available to answer any questions. The breakfast which was part of the package that we had selected was wonderful and we were also able braai as the place had everything we required for that. The place is clean and serviced on a daily basis. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying there again in the future.

Val and Neil are the perfect hosts. We had an amazing 4 days with them. With Val worrying that we arrived safely in the middle of the night, to meals being perfectly prepared and always hot. Neil entertained us with experiences in the bush, wonder walks in the wild and great conversation around a night fire, while he made the perfect meat braai. We can't wait to visit again. We are already missing Charlie the crocodile who responds to Neil's and Val's voice and is more obedient than our pets at home! The rooms are exceptionally clean, very comfortable and had nothing missing. What a beautiful place with amazing people.

11/10 stars! Trust me. If you’re considering Neil and Val, stop considering and start booking! It was by far the best travel experience I’ve had in many years. Those two look over you and are so caring and loving, it’s almost like visiting your grandparents back home… Val basically will nurture you into South Africa, while Neil keeps you alive with his awesome stories and tips for safaris. Those two have made a perfect home away from home! If I should come back to SA, I will visit again! Thank you!

I can recommend to anybody to come and stay. Friendly service, great rooms. Would will be back again and again. Great self catering rooms. Made a fire and had a great braai, even the other guests were friendly.

I can't say enough good things about my experience at Dream of Africa, and wish I was able to stay longer. It starts with being in an ideal location to see Kruger, in the Marloth Park area, an easy 90 minute drive from the airport in Nelspruit, and very close to the Crocodile Bridge Gate. I saw much more wildlife from this part of the Park than I did my one other visit to the area around Hoedspruit. And there is wildlife to be seen right on the grounds of the Lodge! There's a resident croc in the pond out back and warthogs and antelopes constantly grazing in the backyard. A leopard even came through one night during my stay, but unfortunately I was away. But my favorite were the bush babies who live in a bird house on the back patio and come out every night for a quick banana snack before going out for the night to hunt. I never got tired of watching them. The Lodge is immaculate and rooms comfortable and clean, and Neil and Val are outstanding hosts. Every small detail was looked after, and they were even nice enough to voluntarily wash tar off my rental car so I wouldn't potentially be charged for it! I wouldn't think of staying somewhere else for a future stay. One final detail that I liked as a solo traveler, there was the ability here to book in on a small group safari as well as private ones...almost exclusively in other Kruger locations as a single traveler I was potentially being forced to pay for my own vehicle making safaris expensive. So glad I found Dream of Africa!
