Currently staying in the Riad Karmela Princesse. It’s about a 8 min walk from the main souk, and about 6 min walk from the closest place a taxi can drop off (so be prepared to carry some baggage). The staff are incredibly accommodating and helpful. They are very professional, friendly and speak excellent English, A real credit to the Riad. The suite we’ve booked is really nice, and there’s excellent wifi, the bed is a little hard, but the bathroom a little odd, with a separate toilet, shower and 2 sinks (but as the suite could sleep 3 or 4 I can understand this would be perfect). The extra bed is on a mezzanine level, but there’s no privacy screen. TV - not easy to fathom, but there’s nothing to watch unless you speak Arabic, Russian or Polish etc. There’s also a channel in English spouting some religious messages, and a Polish channel showing English language music videos. There’s no view of the outside at all, and we are concerned about privacy as the windows face in to the inside of the riad & the curtains don’t close completely- especially in the bathroom. Kettle, coffee & tea replenished daily & a bottle of water - very pleased!! Breakfast- 2 types of cold meats, 3 cheeses, decent selection of fruits (pomegranates are delicious), bread & 3 somewhat stale cereals. There was an omelette on show, so possibly they will make some eggs. 3 jugs of what looked like freshly squeezed orange (lovely) and a couple of coffee machines. Adequate, but a tiny bit disappointing. Would we stay here again? Possibly so, although I may look for somewhere with an outside window view.
