The room was fine, the en suite bathroom excellent, the breakfast good. But the air conditioning was a real problem. When I arrived in my room, the temperature was recorded at 27.5. I immediately tried to reduce that, but the minus button on the control unit was not working. I rang reception, who said they would reduce my room temperature from there. Going out a few minutes later, I asked if something could be done about the control unit in my room. Having checked that the unit was indeed non-functional, they said I should just phone down when I wanted a change in temperature. Did they really expect me to get up during the night and have a phone conversation with reception every time I felt a bit hot? Early morning, after a non too comfortable night, the room temperature was 25.5 when I phoned down to have it reduced again. Now, a professional hotel would in the first instance check such items as the air conditioning controller between guests. Failing that, they would organise an immediate repair (it was about 1600 when I arrived, not too late to find someone to fix it surely), or a room change. As a final resort, they would offer the guest a refund of some sort to recompense them for the inconvenience. But not this place - they take the money, but don’t provide the service.
