Everything is good about this hotel. Breakfast is the best in my two weeks Italy trip. Just one suggestion: please ask for a shuttle at the parking if you drive to Matera. Otherwise it is hard to walk there with luggage and you will easily lost in similar small roads.

Our experience in Fra i Sassi was brilliant. Our deluxe double room was huge, with a magnificent bathroom. The hotel is central in Sassi and the views over the town were amazing. The breakfast was probably the best I have had in many visits to Italy. We had evening aperitif in the hotel which was served with stuzzichini (little nibbles on the side). It came with so much food that we moved our dinner booking by an hour :-). Highly recommend this hotel.

The location and view are amazing. Matera is a very challenging place to park, but we got great advanced information and a very convenient shuttle. The cave room (#4) is perfection. It is large and comfortable with a front patio area that contains a small table and chairs to admire the incredible view.

Lovely residence in the centre of Matera. We had a cave room with a balcony overlooking the fantastic Matera dwellings. What a view, picture postcard stuff. The room itself was spacious, clean and quirky. The reception staff were very helpful. The breakfasts were good.

We recommended the cave room. We even messaged them to make sure. They said of course, they will give that. The room wasn’t cheap either! When we arrived we got a regular room. It looks like a hostel. We are so disappointed. We never would have booked this hotel. But they told us they would give us the cave room and completely lied.

Beautiful place to stay, near everything, excellent service, staff so friendly and professional, breakfast out of this world with fresh and local products!!! Lugar espectacular, muy cerca de todo, comida excelente con materia prima di calidad, personal super profesional y amables. Bellissimo posto, personale gentilissimo e super disponibile, la colazione fantastica con prodotto di ottima qualità. Definitivamente da visitare de nuovo. We absolutely loved this hotel. It’s in Sassi Barisano. We had the family cave room #5. Bunk beds for my kids and a queen bed for us. Kitchen area and bathroom. The breakfast was amazing. So many choices - all tasted awesome. Plus soy cappuccino for me. All of the staff was very nice. I highly recommend this hotel.

Meraviglioso. It was wow, I felt so good. The staff is too good and helpfull. The room was clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was exquisite. I enjoyed it very much. The hotel is localized in the 'sassi' and there's a bus station accross the street. It is very close to a museum and very easy to find from all directions. Grazie mille per tutto. Ritornerei ♡.

Staff were notably friendly and the location was great. Very nice view from the terrace. Beautiful at night! The hotel was basically created out of a cave, so it's hard to compare with a "regular" hotel. That said, the shower was quite difficult to use, placed in an open bathtub that was hard to enter and exit. I recommend using their parking vendor where you park in a garage and they shuttle you to the hotel. Worth the cost as walking would have been tough. Overall it was a nice experience.
