Valois Motel & Restaurant

I've been travelling through this town for years and this restaurant intrigued so I stopped. I chose a Club Sandwich. In stead of a Club Sandwich, they served me a BLT with some Kraft cheese. I only realized this when a quarter of my sanwich slipped out of my hands and I realized there wasn't any chicken. I called over the waitress and let her know. She peaked at my last quarter of my sandwich, saw no chicken, and said she would tell the chef. I didn't hear anything back from her until I reached the cash. I asked what did the chef say. She asked if I was certain if there wasn't any chicken. The chef said he had put chicken in the sandwich. I replied, why would I lie. She offered me a $2 discount, and I took it. I was between a hard place and a rock. I did eat everything. The plate was plain, sandwich and fries. No coleslaw. The place is clean, service is very friendly, good atmosphere, but the question "are you sure there wasn't any chicken" was a turn off. Would I advise people not to go there, no. I think that this was a one off. It happens. But it happened to me, so, I will not be stopping there again.

The room was basic but clean. My issue is with management who treated me very poorly when I addressed them with my disappointment over losing a day of holiday because of a "scheduled power outage" of which I was never informed, and I woke without power in my room on my last day. Their response blamed me for not choosing to avail myself of their offer to cancel but I was NEVER given the option. They've ceased communication with me and I consider that very bad customer service. Would NOT recommend for this reason.

We booked a cabin on the water thinking this would be great spot. Check in was delayed there was no one at the counter for about ten minutes, apparently working in the restaurant. While checking in we were agin told no pets and no refunds. We went down to the cabin. Amazing view. Driveway needs to be re paved. Huge holes outside of cottage. We went into the cottage. What a let down. For $210 a night I was expecting a little more. The room stunk, not sure what it was. The window air conditioner did not work. There were spider webs hanging from the ceiling. The decor looked like it has been that way since the 70”s. The shower was disgusting no water pressure. Would never stay here again or recommend it to anyone. Definitely needs some drastic updating.

A Classic right on the river. Old-fashioned cheese burger deluxe - real meat pattie burnt on the edges - delicious! Not too many places do it like this anymore. I'm just driving through but based on the great meal I would not hesitate to stay overnight.

We've stayed here several times in the past and enjoyed ourselves. But we stayed again this weekend... it's such a shame it's gone down hill since new ownership. And we heard that from many locals during our stay. The room smelled horrible (not of smoke), beds as hard as a rock, blinds falling down, wifi does NOT work 99% of the time and that's an ongoing issue, air conditioner so loud we couldn't use it, mould in the bathroom. My parents room the bed squeaked every time you moved and the floor was slanted. Even a broken uncovered wall outlet. Wouldn't stay here again. Nothing about this room has been updated for any reviews mentioning a whole motel reno.
