Ikweta is a great example of affordable luxury, which is rare to find these days. The secluded Meru National Park, just a few minutes away, adds to the hidden gem that this part of Kenya is. The tents are exquisite, and it’s clear they take good care of the camp, with regular renovations to keep it up to standard. It’s not past its prime and offers great value for money. Even with a few small flaws—like the shower not being the best—the friendly and very helpful staff more than make up for it. They are genuinely caring and want you to have the best possible stay. They’ll come over for a chat, and even the owner, Susan, and the chef take time out of their day to say hello. The food is simple, which makes it appealing to everyone (especially kids, I’d assume!). Much of it comes straight from their garden, and you can tell they’re proud of it. You can even take a walk around the farm and see everything they grow themselves. On our last morning, we did a two-hour hike with Nemaya. He showed us around the farms and took us up the hill for a stunning view of the surrounding nature and Meru National Park. As a travel agent, I’ve sent guests here before—but after experiencing it myself, I’ll definitely keep recommending it. Keep doing what you do, Ikweta!
