The Plumbago Guest House is the ideal retreat after visiting the Kruger and Blyde River Canyon. The garden and pool are beautifully kept and we had a great time relaxing by the pool. The guest rooms are very cosy and clean and Ilara and Robbie go out of their way to make their guests feel at home. We enjoyed a great dinner with very good food and wine. The breakfast was also great!

We stayed at Plumbago Guest House at the end of our South Africa adventure and this was the very best place to wind down and finish our trip before heading back to Australia. Ilara is the best hostess and made our stay at Plumbago an absolute pleasure. We did the Panorama Route, had a Pamper day at Summerfield and thoroughly enjoyed Ilara's exquisite dinners.

We stayed here at the start of our travel to Kruger park, which is very near. It was a great experience. Ilara and staff did that atmost to create a great stay. Diner and breakfast were nicely served and with much eye for details. We had the two rooms in the garden and both are very well setup. Good bed and little seating area. When we go back I will defenitly be there for couple more days to enjoy there hospitality, Also many thanks to Robbie for the great stories on wildlife in Kruger etc, Hope to be back one day!

Our stay at Plumbago was amazing! Ilara is kind, friendly & helpfull. She informed us even on what to do in certain traffic situations. That was a first for us (even after traveling to South Africa several times) Plumbago is a warm and cosy guesthouse and Ilara is a very skilled chef. All the meals (breakfast and dinner) were perfect and very rich in choice and flavour. We could wait in the sitting room by the fire and enjoy a glass of wine. All the dogs and Mr Shelbie accompanied us, which we loved. The room is perfect as well: spacious, clean and well equiped. The guesthouse is located near the Panorama route and Kruger National Park, so you can enjoy a day out. But it’s also a nice place to relax at the pool or enjoy the garden and tranquility. As we say in the Netherlands “wij hebben Ilara in ons hart gesloten” (which translates as “We have taken Ilara into our hearts”) and love to come back one day to continue our conversations and taste more of her cooking skills.

Plumbago Guest House is one of hidden gems in South African Hospitality. Ilara and Rob are wonderful hosts and the dinner and breakfast are world class. I was offered a sherry on arrival and was made very comfortable in my large spacious cottage. For dinner I had a ravioli starter, with Kingklip for my main. I didn't even get to the desert a chocolate mousse. Breakfast was just as good with granola, European style breakfast and hot cooked breakfast. The guest house is set in lovely peaceful garden with a swimming pool. This was my 3rd visit and if I am ever again near Hazyview I will certainly stay over again.

What a wonderful stay we had here. The suites are beautiful, the food (even for our celiac daughter) was fantastic and Ilara is the best hostess you could wish for! Absolutely recommended! Ilara even thought about Mothersday and gave our two daughters a little present that they could give to me, much appreciated

Thank you Ilara and Robbie for a wonderful stay, we enjoyed every moment of our visit at Plumbago Guest House. We have never experienced the kind of hospitality you showed us. The accommodation was excellent, everything was so beautiful and stylish. Ilari is an amazing cook and we got to enjoy wonderful delicacies. Everything related to our trip was taken care of first class, thanks also to Dirk who drove and guided us to safaris and attractions. We already miss you, we hope to meet again. We had a short but lovely stay at Ilara’s guesthouse. Great view, magnificent rooms and a very fine dinner. Ilara and Robbie have good tips on what to do and really give you the idea you are staying with friends. Good start for visit at Kruger Park

Beautiful place with beautiful garden,amazing view.The very welcoming making you feel like you are at home.Nice and tidy rooms.Food was very delicious cooked with love.plumbago is the place I would really recommend to friends and family
