Au Vieux Moulin

We booked a 3 night stay here (March 2012) in a Superior room with a balcony, The hotel staff were welcoming and very friendly. Room 46 was on the second floor and was at the front of the property overlooking the pool and car car park. The room was spacious and had plenty of wardrobe space with a safe. The mini bar prices were pretty cheap compared to other hotels. The bathroom had a nice big bath which was great for a soak after hitting the slops. We used the heated towel rail which to dry our ski gloves and tops overnight. The bed was very comfortable and I slept so well here, my only issue was the duvet was way too warm for me. The best feature of the room was the balcony which gets the afternoon sun, a fantastic spot to get a few rays with a cold beer before heading into town. The hotel breakfast's were a continental style buffet (all cold food except boiled eggs). This was fine for us as plenty to choose from and quality was good. Breakfast doesn't start until 8am which we found late as the ski bus goes at 8.40am which was a 10 min walk so we had to rush. We did head down the next day at 7.45am and people were already eating so my advice is just to head down when you are ready. The location is fantastic and a 2 min walk into town and 7 mins to the town ski lift if you choose to ski at that side of the mountain (great for kids and ski school), or 10 mins walk to the ski bus stop to get to other side of the mountain. Overall we had a great stay here and would definitely return. Good value for money compared to other hotels in Megeve and very nice staff.

My wife and I had a very comfortable room which was kept very hot. We had to open the window at times to cool down. The breakfast were great and you could order scrambled eggs at no extra cost. The waitress was very helpful and friendly. The dinners were terrific and the quality of wines was very high particularly the lower priced Savoyards. Both head waiters were great fun and we came to acknowledge them as if they were old friends! There was a sauna abs spa centre downstairs. I used the sauna on 3 occasions and it was quite private. The owner appeared to be English but as he never had a conversation with us we wouldn't know. The reception ladies were very pleasant. The only criticism was that while there was a board on the bar advertising Via Chaud they only had this available on one afternoon during our 6 days stay. The Hotel is about 250 metres from the Telecabine station and it is an easy walk with skis which were kept in an outside heated cabin.

I think this is one of the better hotels in this town. The stylle, location and overall experience was good.

We stayed at Au Vieux Moulin for a short ski break. Hotel staff were welcoming and helpful, and the hotel's location in the centre of town was ideal. Great breakfast with plenty of choice. We had a couple of evening meals, both of which were excellent.

was here on a skiing break with friends, old fashioned but well maintained hotel. Friendly staff, nice breakfast and just beside the main village and 5 minutes walk from ski lift. bed comfortable, not flashy but has everything you would require.
