Kind staff, well equipped kitchen. I liked the atmosphere there. Young backpers gathered and talked together and listened to music.. Good backpaer for young and budget travelers!

This was my second stay at Melbourne City Backpackers, and overall, it was another positive experience, much like my last visit. The only downside this time was one of my roommates. She came into the dorm very late and was quite noisy. Around midnight, she was loudly crunching chips, and when I politely asked if she could stop eating as the noise was affecting my sleep, she simply said it was my problem. At that point, I realised she wasn't someone open to reasonable communication, so I decided to avoid an argument and just let it go.

You get what you pay for in this hostel. It’s okay. A little messy and there are areas to keep your belongings safe unless you bring your own padlock. The beds we not very comfortable but the location was great. Only stayed for a few nights but wouldn’t book again. As for the amenities there are free breakfast and instant coffee with study tables around the common area.

The hostel was packed with other travelers when I arrived. It was a vibrant place for young travelers as it is i the heart of Melbourne CBD and very close to the train station to connect with other regions of Victoria. They serve breakfast daily consisting of coffee, tea, toast with jams and butter, and looking at the kitchen counters full of labeled bags of groceries and stuff, it seems a lot have been staying there for long-term.

Lucky I just went there to sleep, noisy room. The staff super friendly and the location is perfect, close to the southern cross station

The room is very close to St. Cross. They have a luggage room, but it’s quite small and often full of luggage. You’ll need to climb stairs from the street to the reception, and there’s no elevator to the bedrooms. The room and bathroom are okay. They offer many free activities at night and free breakfast in the morning, which is nice.

Great hostel! Air conditioning in rooms and communal areas 24/7. Each bed has its big locker (bring your lockpad). The toilets/bathrooms are cleaned twice a day. The kitchen is huge and well equipped, allowing many guests to cook simultaneously and to store their food on shelves or in fridges.It is also cleaned by the staff. Big thank to the house keeping staff!

Good cleaning and excellent location. The building is old and my bedroom was really small and old. Good for backpackers

Plus points😍😍 1. Location! Close to Southern Cross Station & quite cheap. Just bear in mind, this hostel might not suit you if you are disable or travel with heavy luggage. They don't have lift 2. Free simple breakkie from 8am to 11am. Also free milk, coffee, and tea whole day What I don't like😡😡 : 1. Their cleaning service management time! They can't choose any better timing to clean the bathroom. They started around 9am and until 10am it wasn't finish yet. People need to use the bathroom before they checked out though. And it's only 2 bathroom in 1 floor. 2. Their online system check in and door lock using third party apps called GoKi. It may more convenient for some people to just open the doors using bluetooth apps on phone. But I don't like to install apps that I will use 1 time only. 3. They should think about their shower room design better. No wall hanger inside cubicle, so you better not bring to much stuff to the bathroom

The advantage of staying here is close to southern cross. Easy to travel when need to catch up skybus early in the morning. The bed itself did not come with power supply that cause unable to charge the phone during the night.

Standard hostel, nothing special. It's fine to stay 1 or 2 nights. I liked the free breakfast, though.

Melbourne City Backpacker,the one I was here before.! I chose here because of Good location only 5 mins walk to Southern cross station where sky buses from=to airport are parking. And yes, good price ,worth. Really appreciated the men receptions on Nov. 27th.,they both very nice andcfruendly speakung with smiley faces espwcially a cleaning lady whom gave help to carry my suircase 25kgs.upstair as I could not do that due to I just have drsssing wound getvpain on left lleg. But the lafy,reception of morning 28th.I would likevto say that she did nit has nice speaking I could nir feel her symphathy on my pain leg but the cleaning lady again to help me carry down my suitcase I knew that my tip to her 5 aud.could not equal her helpful heart but I did plus my thank you to hercfrom my heart. About kitchen,Would be great if changed cleaning towels eveey an hour. Big surprised was Wine&Cheese Wednesday party I love it,had fun. Anyway, as for good price and goo location I still wantbto come back here every my next visit.

Location was superb, it within Mel CBD and close at train station. Nearby resto to choose from and my favourite SUBWAY is just few steps. Restrooms outside the room but it's ok..as many cubicles and 2 cubes for shower exclusively for ladies. Door is secured as each person has password.
