Peabody Memphis

Great location, easy walk to Beale Street. Room was very clean. Duck Parade is a must. Will definitely stay here again.

Such fun staying in this historic hotel for a conference. Service and friendliness of staff were amazing. Even had a view of the mighty Mississippi from my ninth floor window. Lovely piano music either with a live person or a midi recording in the lobby added to the elegant ambience. Nightly turn down with chocolate was an unexpected treat. Ducks everywhere!

We are currently in the Peabody and will be checking out today. The hotel is lovely and the march of the ducks is very cool. However upon checking in we were told we had a very small room and for $30 extra we could be upgraded to a larger corner room with a view so I said yes! The room is large and clean. The view is of a street and the other window faces a building. The safe did not work so I went to the front desk and they said they would take care of it. After a few hours, I called again and was told someone would come up. I called the third time and finally someone came up at 10:30 at night. The tub in the bathroom does not drain so when you shower you are standing in 6” of water. The charging station on the lamp did not work nor did the reading light on the bed. So much for my upgrade!!!!

Hotel staff where great. Historic building with some charm. A shame the bedrooms have been left in that history with some modernisation needed. Hallways dirty. Bathrooms small and dated. Bed was nice and big and one of the comfiest i’ve stayed in. Cockroaches in the bathroom where certainly a downside. Along with the dirty towel clearly left for sometime under the sink unit. Food in the hotel generally good not many issues there. Great bar to forget about the horrors of Memphis that happen outside the hotel walls, no fault of the hotels of course that’s Memphis’s problem. Would avoid Memphis in general if ever on a road trip of the US again.

We stayed three nights in January. The Peabody certainly lives up to its billing as ‘the Grand Hotel of the South’ with a luxurious lobby and regal hotel rooms. The service is extraordinary. Honestly, the staff are always smiling and can’t do enough. Each evening they actually knock at your door offering you chocolates, extra toiletries and extra bottled water (all with a duck motif, of course). The duck parade at 11am and 5pm is a must. Don’t wait until the last minute if you want a prime viewing spot though as it crowds up fast. Our room was spacious and the bed was VERY comfy. We especially appreciated the built-in individual reading lights. There is no coffee maker or mini fridge in the room but the hotel offers free coffee and tea downstairs each morning. The location is great, 2 blocks from Beale and across the street from the ballpark. I can’t imagine going to Memphis and staying anywhere else.
