Madame Vacances Hôtel & Spa le Mottaret

Heads up, we are here now, and I'll be writing a daily. Day 1: Really not impressed, firstly, we booked this hotel 11 months ago, then a few months ago they tried to cancel our booking, thankfully they relented, so we were able to stay in the same hotel as our friends, who are on their 60th ski trip with Inghams. The main thing I'm not happy about, is the fact we've been placed in a room on the ground floor, just behind the bar, with people parking their cars 20meters away able to see into our room (I'll remind you here that we booked 11 months ago) , so we have to keep the curtains closed (zero views for us), I wish we had booked the hotel we usually stay in. . The one saving grace is the staff, they have been great, friendly and smiley. (They are the 2 stars in the review) Let's see how the week works out,

The staff at the hotel were lovely. Very warming. And the location is great … a very very short ski to the lifts. But the hotel is SO dated. Our room was poor. A sink that barely drained. Room decor was so so dated. The carpet cheap and old. There’s more charm room wise in an Ibis basic. Any hotel that charges this amount a night and doesn’t have WIFI…..seriously ? This is amateur to say the least The food was pleasant (particularly if you like duck) but overall for what you pay we all felt disappointed

This is a wonderful hotel. The manager Katie has a team of staff that run this hotel extremely well. From check in, to the restaurant, the bar, the spa and the boot room facilities, we couldn't fault it. It is warm and cosy and very comfortable. The food, without question, was first class. Ski in ski out is the icing on the cake, with all the wonders of the Three Valleys on your doorstep. Thank you for making our stay special.

I have been coming to the hotel twice a year for many years, it is one of my happy places the same staff are there year after year all remembering my name, this is testament to the team that Katie the manager has built up over the years. The rooms are great and have everything you need beds super comfortable a must after a hard days ski. The outside hot tub is a joy with a bottle of cold Prosecco to ease those aching muscles, or you can go down to the spa to use the pool steam room and sauna, there is even a well equipped gym down there. The buffet breakfast you up for the day and burgers at lunchtime are a hit with my teenagers, the dinner has a wide variety of food so you never get board. The bar area is one of my favourite places to sit and tell stories of the day’s adventures my favourite drink is placed in front of me as I sit at the bar and if you are lucky Hanson the barman will astound you with card tricks. Finally the location grab your skis walk less that 10m and you are on the slopes, being in the centre of the 3 Valleys you can easily hit any of the other areas depending on the weather. It’s not so much a hotel as home from home.

Excellent service, amazing hotel and facilities. Every staff member was so kind and welcoming. Especially the barmen Freddie, Max, Georgio and Hamsa. Amazing food each night with different country cuisines to offer for everyone. Cleaning room service everyday.

Wonderful hotel, I had such a good trip. Being able to get straight onto the slopes from the hotel was amazing and I especially enjoyed the spa to relax. My room was to a very high standard and had everything I needed, the bathroom was clean and modern and I spent time enjoying the fabulous views on my balcony. The communal areas were a great place to unwind and the food was delicious. But most of all I found my trip was made perfect by the excellent staff - thank you to Katie, Julien and the team for the perfect holiday! Can’t wait to come back!
