Decu Downtown

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Decu. It is in a perfect location - quiet but only 10 minutes from most of the main sights, squares, cool restaurants, and landmarks in Merida. Made it easy to pop back to the hotel for a few hours to cool off by the pool. The rooms are big and very nicely designed. There are 8 rooms - four in the old part of the hacienda and then 4 in a back section that appears newer and more modern. We were in room 3 which was nice with super high ceilings. Our friend was in room 1 and it had beautiful floor tiles. Every design choice is well done and perfectly fits together. Although the hotel was full, we barely saw anyone. So you have this small staff who is always there to help. In some ways, it felt more like a B&B than a hotel (which we liked). But whenever we needed anything like a coffee or a drink, the staff were quickly on it! I can't imagine a better hotel in Merida where a lot of the hotels seems kind of dated (at least from outside appearances). They also arranged a private tour guide to visit Uxmal and the experience was excellent. They also arranged for a welcome gift for our friend who was celebrating his birthday.

The Decu is a beautiful oasis in Merida. The staff are so helpful and friendly and will go out of their way for you, I cannot praise them enough. The food was fabulous and the breakfasts also very nice. My only two suggestions would be please put more light or a magnifying mirror in the bathrooms as it was hard to see yourself. The rooms can also smell a little damp. Merida is a beautiful town and I wish we had given more time to exploring it.

El personal siempre fue muy atento a todo lo que necesitábamos, fuimos a celebrar nuestra honeymoon y todo fue increíble, altamente recomendado, el hotel es precioso, pasar tiempo en la psicina mientras tomabamos un cóctel fue maravilloso.
