Quinta de S.Bernardo - Winery & Farmhouse

If you are looking for a beautiful, quaint, small property right along the Douro River, with incredible attentive staff, Quinta de Sao Bernardo is the place to go. We spent 3 nights there and I already want to go back. The atmosphere was incredibly charming. I would highly recommend the full wine tasting tour. I have been to Napa on several occasions, but I learned more from that tasting than any of my Napa trips combined. I would also recommend the buggy tour. They take you up to a beautiful lookout over 4,000' above the valley floor. The food was incredible. Chef Miguel always made a point to come out and make sure our meals were perfect. The hotel host, Joe, made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Renata, the restaurant host, always had a perfect table ready for us. This was our favorite stop on our 2-week Portugal trip. Whether you are traveling with other couples, or on a romantic vacation by yourselves, Quinta Bernardo is fabulous property that you will remember forever.

Great service. Beautiful and serene place. Although we made day plans elsewhere we opted to dance those plans and just stay at the property all day. Enjoyed some time on the river on the SUPs. Pool. Wine. Very relaxing. The food is also quite exceptional. There are three options (regular dinner, in their green house and ‘chefs table’). We enjoyed the regular dinner both nights and were amazed and the quality and innovative cuisine. Would highly recommend this place. There were no families / young kids staying while we were there but the place does accommodate families nicely. There’s a little structure playground and a room with games.

Fabulous food wine and service at the farmhouse restaurant. The chef decides the menu each day based on local ingredients and there is a choice of main. We had fish. The bread with home made butter and garlic, followed by tempura amuse bouche, then entree of artichoke, pike with a risotto all excellent. Apple dessert prepared in unique and delicious ways. Finally some chocolate to finish. Lovely setting on the patio looking over the Douro as night fell. Blankets provided as it got cooler. Highly recommend.

This place is magical . It truly is our favorite. Their hospitality is heart felt. Their energy is contagious. They always strive to do what is comfy to the guest. They treat you with kindness all day. Great culinary experience. Excellent wine. Breathe taking views of the river. Clean and comfy rooms. Everything smells so good.

Amazing experience. Amazing atmosphere on arrival. Amazing history behind the business. Amazing view. What a treat. Friendly staff and outstanding focus on everything. An off beat outside the box experience all round. We really enjoyed our room, with view of the D'Ouro river. The dinner was absolutely exchisit with mixtures of texture and flavor, specially when enjoyed with the wine pairing. Loved the focus of the team on providing an amazing experience, as well as the values behind everything they do. Organic room ground in the grounds of the hotel. A experience to be repeated as a couple, family or alone. A true himn to the Portuguese culture. Hardworking and friendly people. Congratulations to all the team and keep up the good work.

We went for a wine tasting and lunch! Juliana gave us the best experience! She was so knowledge about wines and was so pleasant. The beauty of the winery is overwhelming! The small size made it so much quaint and enjoyable than the bigger wineries.

What a glorious spot to stay in the Duoro Valley. My husband and I stayed here for two nights in October but wished we had scheduled for 3 nights! Beautiful, relaxing and the food was wonderful. We had breakfast two mornings with a delightful breakfast hostess and dinner one night in the Greenhouse which was outstanding. Would definitely return here if I ever return to the region.

We loved our time at the Quinta! I recommend the Greenhouse dinner, wine tasting with the winemaker and taking a private driver to visit local wineries (although, keep it to Three… four was too many 🍷). Joao and his staff are very welcoming and accommodating. We’d definitely stay here again.

After visiting the city of Porto we went out to the Douro Valley to connect with the vines, the food; the people who live/work there. So glad we picked the Quinta de Sao Bernardo. This is a family owned and operated winery with only 9 rooms. (Book Early) The redesign of the original farmhouse to its current state is beyond well done. The vibe here is RELAX, EAT, ENJOY LIFE. To do: winery tours, wine education w/ winemaker, Spa, Infinity Pool with bar service, Family room, Outstanding morning Breakfast and seasonal farm to table dinner announced daily, and includes; 3 choices meat, fish & vegetarian! They also offer a Greenhouse 8 Course tasting menu. (A Foodie's Dream accommodation) ***** 5 Star *****
