We went to Rhode Island to spend Christmas with family and to get some business done. Checked into this hotel for a total of 16 days. We were told that towels and other items were checked on and replenished every other day and every 5-6th day, the room was totally cleaned. We had one visit by a cleaning person on day 4 , only AFTER we called the desk for towels and bathroom tissue. We NEVER had another housekeeping service, and had to retrieve towels and miscellaneous goods from the housekeeping cart, when we could catch it. I tried to book housekeeping services 4 additional times through the front desk, in person and by phone. I also asked housekeeping employees, directly, to come in and clean and was told that it was only done by the front desk. Just horrible service! In addition, 90 minutes after checking out, we realized that we left a small jewelry holder in one of the drawers in the room and immediately called the manager to alert him. It contained some 14 karat gold pieces and a string of pearls handed down by my grandmother (circa 1900). He called back after going to the room to report that the cleaning person was already finishing up the room cleaning and NO JEWELRY was found! The irony of having no service for our stay, then within 90 minutes of leaving on our return trip home, the room is cleaned and my items not found, is not lost on me. I am going to contact Marriott next, but thought an honest review was appropriate. This was NOT “ Home for the holidays”!
