Palace Hotel

Excellent 5* hotel with a few issues that weren't advised to us pre-arrival. I have to make special mention to Poorna Dewage who was so attentive, very friendly and an absolute credit to the hotel, first class member of the staff. Unfortunately for us the hotel is much more geared up to a business/conference style hotel than personal and individual guests such as were ourselves. This was never disclosed to us and we found it rather uninviting at many times with business people surrounding us in the hotel lobby/bar and other areas. The hotel was very empty at many times apart from when a conference was on (this happened perhaps 5 times throughout our 12 night stay). Most, if not all, evenings in the hotel were dead and the beach restaurant/bar area was all taken up by the private events that were being attended to from the conference guests. The staff were VERY attentive and polite which was lovely and the breakfast that we had included was also very lovely, albeit ordering coffee seemed to be unnecessarily difficult every day!? The most disappointing moment of the holiday was to have our designer sunglasses stolen on the very last day from the private hotel beach area that we had attended on every day without issue. We complained to the beach staff, the beach bar staff and also the hotel reception but unfortunately no one seemed to be interested or helpful in any way which was most unexpected and most upsetting. We simply left the hotel at the end of our stay and no one even apologised or acknowledged for the loss. A real shame to what was a relaxing holiday in the Italian sunshine.

It was not a pleasant stay. No coffee machine or tea in the room. No iron in the cupboard and not even possible to borrow one. Big bags of dirty towels next to our door all day long and the worst… after coming back to the room after dinner, our door was open. The neighbor’s room was open too but nobody around. First they blamed us saying that we forgot to close, which of course was not the case, and then they said the cleaning lady forgot to close. It never happened to us in any hotel. For a 5 star hotel, completely unacceptable! We will never come back.

Terrible service, old hotel, minus 2 stars. You’ll wait 30 min coffee in the breakfast. I ordered food to my room number, the forgot about it. There are a lot of old equipment in the room. No friendly service. If you want to spend time in beautiful place, Milano-Marittima, don’t stop in Palace hotel, this is bad place.

I had a great experience during my visit, and I’d like to highlight the excellent service I received at reception. Haney Majdi was extremely helpful, professional, and welcoming. He made the whole process smooth and pleasant. It’s always nice to be greeted by someone so competent and friendly—thank you for the outstanding service!

Lovely place in MiMa. All very well organized. Breakfast is perfect, the beach service is great and relaxed (much space between beds). I want to give a big compliment to Giulio, the restaurant manager. The way he takes care of the guests and his team is special. In particular, the Ferragosto party is worth to mention, all very well organized. We have visited many hotels in MiMa, this is the best!

There are only two holiday hotels in the whole wide world I look forward to visiting: The Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok and the Palace Hotel in Milano Marittima, Italy. For me, virtually all the rest I have been to are plastic palaces with largely disdainful staff, fancy prices and fanciful promises of heaven on earth. On the other hand, the Palace Hotel in Milano Marittima, situated right on the seafront, has friendliness, tranquility, efficiency, cleanliness, excellent service and a private beach (no extra charge), with a beautiful bar and restaurant on it; so sun worshippers don’t have to exert themselves strolling an extra 50 metres to have a delicious buffet lunch on the terrace by the pool. The quality of the food in the hotel is superb and puts the Emperor’s Clothes, overpriced Italian restaurants in London to shame.
