Sani Stone Lodge

We were a group of four people who enjoyed lunch at Sani Stone Lodge. It was a delicious chicken curry, served with rice, vegetables and salad. The service was very friendly, despite arriving without a reservation. The establishment is very clean offering restroom facilities, cozy log fire, and both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. The lodge has a beautiful view across the plains and is only 5km from the Lesotho border post. After 5km, turn left on a narrow road (shortly after passing a white painted church) and continue for a further 3km. It is certainly worth a visit!

Lovely basic spot , comfortable and spotless rooms and the staff were awesome, nothing was too much too ask 🙏 Fantastic stay And the chicken curry was to die for !

We really enjoyed our stay at Sani Stone Lodge. The staff was friendly and more than helpful. Our unit was clean and warm. The views of the valley was breathtaking and unspoiled.

The owner and son have a great idea and place. Only small things needed to make it great. Like, cold beer, water at all time or at least enough.

We booked for 5 people, and we had a very bad experience. 1) The link on your mail stop in the middle of nowhere on the A1 and does not lead to your property nor the entrance and we struggled to get anyone on the phone. 2) The staff did not even know we were coming thus they were unprepared for our arrival. We did an online booking and paid in full. 3) The first unit we received had no water at first and when the water was opened the water sprayed all over in the bathroom due to a burst pipe within the geyser. 4) There were not enough nor adequate wood to start the fireplace to heat up the unit as the staff were not expecting us. 5) The second unit's toilet did not get water thus we had to fill it ourselves with buckets of water. We were just too tired to move to another unit again. 6) The food that were prepared was chicken breast and chips. The chicken was as dry as paper and all the food were ice cold when we received it. The chef/waiter did not even ask whether it should be barbeque or spicy or not. It was so spicy that our children nor my wife could even eat it. At R180.00 per meal this was ridiculous. We waited too long for them to prepare the food and were just too tired to bother to complain about it... I think that the staff were very friendly, but I do not think that they even received any training on what to do in their appointed positions.

From our welcoming by the most delightful Mary, to meals to the goodbye's this was a fabulous experience. Room was good, Mary provided a gas heater and we had hot water in the morning! The access road is a bit bumpy and probably not good for small cars but that is exactly what makes this a hidden gem! We loved the peace and quiet and the magnificent views.
