The Running Horses

We stayed here recently for a family wedding. We don't know this area, but we were looking for somewhere close to the venue to stay. The Running Horses is a lovely pub/inn, the rooms were comfortable and a good size, the bed was comfy too, and the bathroom was perfect for a couple. I would absolutely stay again.

The third time we have eaten here and each occasion has been great - great menu choices (although desserts featured ice cream quite a bit), friendly service and a lovely atmosphere. We had prawns for a starter and beef pie for mains - delicious! Definitely recommended!

A lovely cosy country pub in the heart of Surrey just a stone's throw from Boxhill. With great food, an extensive steak menu and very friendly attentive staff, especially Guy. This pub is a must if you are passing through Mickleham either for a drink or meal out. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful meal at the Running Horses last night. It was a family celebration and we were so well looked after, with really excellent service and food. Thank you very much to the manager João and the staff who really looked after us so well. We’ll be back very soon.

Lovely country pub. Great friendly staff, food fantastic. Comfortable seating, lovely atmosphere, went there with 2 dogs, nice to have seating inside in the bar area. There is a large restaurant area with pretty courtyard garden and outdoor seating. Highly recommend!!

Met up with some friends for lunch yesterday. We all had a main course and shared desserts. All of the food was very good. Quite busy but all staff took the time to be friendly and helpful. The pub has a lovely interior and a great atmosphere. Would definitely go again.

We would highly recommend the Running Horses. We held our wedding party here and Joao and his team were wonderful. No effort was too much and they helped to prepare the room for the event. The food was incredible and very reasonably priced. All of our guests had a wonderful time and experience with us. It is also very close to beautiful walks and picturesque locations. Would highly recommend if popping in for a bite or booking something special.

Don't go if you're veggie or vegan. Absolutely rubbish selection and the chefs aren't willing to make anything for you! Despite the fact that the menu has "VG" (vegan) and "VGA" (vegan option available) symbols, nothing on the menu is actually marked with that... other than a side salad, olives and chips. A bit poor in this century.

I booked a table at The Running Horses with a view to having lunch there after going on a walk that was described as "strenuous". We didn't pay enough attention to that "strenuous", especially considering we're not young, and have not always been in the best of health! Suffice to say, we very much enjoyed our walk, but we arrived late for lunch - so late indeed, that the kitchen had closed. The staff were lovely about it, and the chef kindly agreed to reopen the kitchen for us. I had the risotto, and my friends had fish & chips, and they were DELICIOUS. Obviously chefs can't be expected to reopen their kitchens every time some old fool misjudges the length of a walk, but the fact this one did shows, I think, the commitment of the Running Horses to excellent service. It's a wonderful pub, and I will certainly go there again.
