Spark by Hilton Moline Quad Cities

I arrived at this Spark on my cross-country drive as the sun was setting. Because I got an uneasy feeling, possibly because my car was the only one in the parking lot, I decided to forfeit the HHonors points that I used to make my reservation and kept driving towards Chicago. I think this is the first time I have done this in my years as a Hilton Diamond member. The hotel is just across the Rock River from MLI airport, where there is a Hampton Inn that I enjoyed visiting a few years ago. Next to the Spark is the City of Moline South Slope Wastewater Treatment Facility, in front of the hotel is a gas station and dumpsters, and across the street is what looked like a struggling shopping mall. This hotel is probably fine on the inside, but I didn't stick around long enough to find out.

This Spark was sparkling throughout the period of our stay in the hotel, hotel staff were very nice to my wife and me. I was in town for a fun trip and the location was really great when it came to being on the budget that is short drive from pretty much anything that you might need as the moline mall was right across the street. Highly recommend if you are looking for budget friendly stay with all the right things a hotel should have to make a comfortable stay.

The first room they gave us had no cold water. When we reported the issue, they came to the room, checked the sink and discovered the water had been turned off at the shut off valve. Once the water was turned on, the room had cold water in the sink, but it could not be turned off. They moved us to a second room, and this room had no water to the toilet. Checking the shut off valve, sure enough it was turned off. Opening the shut off valve, the toilet tank did begin to fill, but of course, it never stopped, the tank filled all night long. The second room also had key troubles. The card key would work for about 30 minutes, then stop working. Four attempts to fix it did not resolve the issue, so we made sure one of us was always in the room to open the door.
