Aparthotel Calema Avenida Jardim

The Calema is situated on a backstreet just a few minutes from the beach. Initial impressions are good. The public areas are clean and reasonably well maintained. The gym seemed busy but the pool was totally unused. My room was clean and consisted of a small bedroom and bathroom with a larger kichenette and living area with a balcony. The kitchen equipment was sticky, unsurprising given that neither washing up liquid or tea towels were provided, with a random selection of cups and plates. My friends in other rooms fared better or worse suggesting poor management of the cleaning team. The single beds are rock hard and very narrow, but I slept well. Unfortunately a dead bird appeared on my balcony halfway through my stay which I reported four times on successive day, but it was still there on departure. The restaurant was poor. Cold breakfast options only and limited choices. The evening buffet was even worse with no vegetarian options or even labelling to tell you what you might be eating. After the first night we realised that we needed to eat at the start of the stated period as the food soon cooled and nothing was topped up. Vegetables were either cooked to death or missing altogether. For example, one night a single melon was put out along with another item, when they ran out quickly (before we got to that stage) a few small bowls of red jelly (of indeterminate flavour) were put out. An odd man also seemed to be hanging around glaring at people (we were told that he was the owner but he did no obvious work). Most days he seemed to be in the lounge with his phone loudly on speaker either shouting into it or watching something, making it impossible to have a quiet drink in the bar. One evening he hosted some sort of family meal after which one of the children was given the key to the piano. She then proceeded to play very badly and loudly. We complained to the man and he just shrugged. We left along with our fellow guests. So in summary, the Calema could be a good hotel but it needs some management attention, a decent food offering and for the owner to respect that we are paying guests and that the public areas are not an extension of his living room.

We love staying here! The staff are all friendly and welcoming. They are very helpful and speak good English. The breakfast is plentiful and tasty with fresh fruit, cereal, pastries, a selection of breads and cold meat/cheese/eggs/yoghurt. The apartments are clean and comfortable. With a large balcony they are also very spacious with plenty of room to relax. The bathroom has a bidet (perfect for rinsing swimsuits etc!) and a powerful shower over the bath. WiFi this time was good in the room but it’s always strong in reception! This is not a luxury hotel! It’s a clean and comfortable apartment that makes a perfect base whilst exploring the beautiful beaches and surrounding areas here in the Algarve. Highly recommend!

Amazing experience! The reception, the conditions of the room, the food and everything was suuuper clean! Also the price is accessible, I honestly thought it would be more expensive than it actually was. I recommend it 100% and I’ll definitely will come back again

We zijn hier 5 weken geweest en in het begin denk je, oh dit gaat prima. Helaas kom ik hier op terug. De appartementen zijn verouderd. Deuren die je alleen met een klap kunt dichtdoen. Dat was te merken omdat op onze etage jongelui van een sportclub verbleven. Bedden die niet fijn zijn met ouderwetse dekens waar je constant ruzie mee hebt. Dekbedden zou al een oplossing zijn. In het keukentje veel te weinig stopcontacten dwz slechts 1. Dus stekkers steeds verwisselen ik had een 2 kops koffiezetapparaat meegenomen omdat ik had gelezen dat deze er niet was. Bad is veel te gevaarlijk voor ouderen. Koken is behelpen met 2 pitjes en duurt bovendien giga lang. Personeel is vriendelijk en kamers worden dagelijks schoongemaakt. WiFi laat ook te wensen over en verouderde airco. Weinig rendement. Thuis hebben we ook airco en deze verwarmt op 22 graden ruimschoots. Deze staat op 30 graden en dan nog.

DECEPCIÓN TREMENDA AL IRNOS Gustó · Nos gusta mucho porque podemos ir con nuestros 3 perros y que su estancia es gratis no como en otros hoteles que cobran como si ellos pudieran hacer uso de sus instalaciones y prestaciones (piscinas, gym etc)o utilizar su tv o nevera o ducha. No gustó · Después del checkout nos informó la recepción que no podíamos volver más con nuestros 3 perros . A partir de este año sólo admiten uno en la habitación. Entonces que hacemos con los otros 2? Hemos ido 3 veces .Esta última de 3 noches colgamos el cartel para que no tuvieran que hacer la limpieza de la habitación como para tener un detalle con el personal de servicio. Sacábamos la basura para no acumular e incluso utilizábamos la gran mayoría de veces la puerta lateral precisamente para no pasar por el hall con los 3.Nadie puede tener una queja porque ellos no ladran.Coincidimos dos veces con perros ellos ladraban como locos .Perros pequeños que incluso son los únicos aceptados en muchos hoteles. Justamente el día de antes coincidió mi marido en la calle con un señor que se identificó como el propietario y que le dice que a él le gustan muchos los perros y que mientras sean educados podrán alojarse siempre . Fue un jarro de agua fría cuando al irnos nos informan de que ya los 5 no podremos ir más. Intentamos pasar lo más desapercibidos posible pero...cuando lo que sí es sorprendente que la gente que está en el hall viendo la tele está en chanclas con los pies descalzos encima del sofá !!! Habrá gente que no le guste los perros pero y ese tipo de gente! Que pasa con ellos?

Quando o barato sai caro. Hotel antigo, camas super desconfortáveis. Refeições sem variedade nenhuma principalmente o pequeno almoço. As refeições é mesmo a pior parte. Muito mau mesmo, não recomendo.
