Sandals Montego Bay All Inclusive - Couples Only

Thought long and hard about the scoring of this review as we chose the wrong resort so that isn’t their fault However when looking at scores for other places that we loved I feel I have scored correctly We chose wrong. We’ve been to 2 other sandals resorts and loved them . See previous reviews but this one was wrong for us on many levels and was a poorer resort in its offerings It’s too busy and brash for us with many groups here. The sandals brand is sold on being for couples but not really here! Yes lots of couples but lots in big groups. And a great sense of entitlement from many guests showing a lack of consideration for others. The overall look of the resort on a beautiful beach is superb and the grounds are beautiful and so well kept. The staff are very friendly too and all smile and say hello ( with the odd exception) Location 10 minutes drive from the airport and from the backs of the rooms ( Almond) you can see the airport runway! From late morning to early evening you can hear and see planes taking off! It’s not too disturbing. It’s not like being on the flight path for Heathrow but for 10 seconds or so you do hear the aircraft each time one takes off. Welcome Compared with other sandals check ins it wasnt very friendly. There was just us and one other person ( where was his partner?) and we were the only ones staying club. Concierge brought us a cold towel then someone else took us through to the club lounge to check in! I think we were then passed through a couple of others before one of them took us to our room. Brief tour and that was it . No details given on resort/ restaurant opening and closing/ use of app/ Gina etc . At other sandals we have found this a bit drawn out but this was completely the other way and we would have liked a bit more info on the place really particularly as work is being done on the main restaurant building and this has impacted When and where places are open. Accommodation/ room In Almond building on 3rd floor. Great view. Quiet. Comfortable all we needed. Club room so have their facilities too which include full mini bar with spirits stocked up daily . Also room service if required - we didn’t use this but could see a lot did by number of plates outside rooms. Club lounge available with sofas, drinks and tvs Food/ dining Overall poor. Best meals were Butches, Soy and Cucina Romana for breakfast and dinner - Italian The rest quite poor to average. Cold food at Bayside dinner ( French) and uncooked vegetables Very poor at Stewfish, again cold and waitress just didn’t seem interested Tokyo Jos! Great concept but poor delivery. Waitress rushed through her script, didn’t ask us if we wanted drinks so we had to get own from bar which she then told us off for doing ( Racquel) and just mediocre tasting food with too much oil. This was our 4th visit to a Sandals property and the first time in Jamaica. We have traveled all over the world staying in many all inclusive resorts, which would be one of our preferred way to holiday. We loved Jamaica, its people and the beaches. The island is beautiful and there is a few sites to see, not too far from the property. We picked Montego Bay as we have to travel for 24 hours to get there and wanted to be close to the airport and not have a long transfer. We also heard it was more livery than other resorts. We went for Christmas and NY. The celebrations for both were great! Santa arrived on Christmas Day which was great fun. New Years Eve celebrations were also good fun. We were very disappointed there was not something better food wise. We ate in oleanders and it was just ok. There was a lovely buffet on in Bayside but there wasn’t no communication to tell us this or we would have gone there. We had been to St Lucia for NY and the gala dinner they put on was amazing. I feel that things are really being scaled down and not as luxurious. We stayed in a swim-up beach front room at the end of the property which was amazing. I loved the pool!!! I smelled of chlorine the whole time as I was never out of it. The entertainment staff were brilliant. A huge big shout out to Tasha (my karaoke queen), Kev and Queen Tangerine. The DJs were brilliant and we loved Jordan the saxophonist. The shows were all great. We love getting involved in all the activities. A bit disappointed that there weren’t more quizzes etc during the day. I think there might have been more but there is a bit of lack of communication/information concerning these. The app wasn’t saying the same as the board in the main lobby. I put this down to Christmas and it being a changed schedule. The steel band was amazing. The food was disappointing. It wasn’t great. We never once said “wow, that was amazing” apart from the Indian restaurant in sandals royal. The menu for NY was nice in Oleander but my food was freezing when it came out. We did not like Cucina Romana. The lasagne was like a TV dinner. Butches was very disappointing. This is not a steak house! We didn’t bother going back. We did have a booking but there was an hour wait so we left. I would highly recommend taking your own drinks into most of the restaurants as the service is very slow!! One lunch, I’d finished my lunch and still hadn’t had a drink. My hubby got up to get me some water (after trying to attract attention and failing) and Garfield (Bayside) jumped up to help him. Garfield is amazing! He works very hard! We had stayed in Grenada two years ago and the service was amazing. They never stopped topping up your wine glass. That never happened once here. We just got up and got our own drinks. Allya (Bayside) is also brilliant. I loved her little wave to say goodbye each time a plane left. We loved the airport noise and seeing all the flights. It lasts about 10 seconds per plane and is not annoying.

Resort nicely decorated for Christmas and grounds look great.Unfortunatel some restaurants are closed under construction. Oleanders, the italuan , Saltfish although their menu offered its not the same. So not good. value for your dollar

The first time my wife and I have been to a children free resort and absolutely loved it. It’s the way forward from here on in. The resort had a range of facilities, including 5 different restaurants, sea activities, gorgeous beaches that are well kept and great and helpful staff. We had a butler service, which is the way to go. It was slightly cloudy being December, but extremely warm. Lots of Americans, but that’s to be expected as it’s so close. But all very pleasant.

Great birthday celebration at Sandals Montego Bay. It’s a short 5 minute ride from the airport, which is a huge plus! The restaurants were easy to get into and the staff was friendly. I’d 100% stay here again. Once you are here you don’t have to worry about a thing. We had a club beachfront room. Great location and view of the beach.

My husband and I went to Sandals MoBay for our anniversary in November. We had a Beachfront Honeymoon Butler Suite w/ Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub. Our butlers were named Cassandra and Dalton. The suite was wonderful. It had all the amenities. Big bathroom, stocked fridge, big bed, sitting room that could be closed off to watch tv, the balcony had an amazing view of the Caribbean Sea, and the soak tub was probably my favorite thing. House keeping came twice a day -once in the morning to tidy up and again at night for turn down service and to tidy up again. Everything was wonderful. The butlers were AMAZING. They were always one thought ahead of us in what we would need or want to do. I would absolutely request them again and recommend them to anyone going. The food and drinks were great. The beach was beautiful. The landscaping was breathtaking. All the staff we had interactions with were overall so nice. We did not do any excursions or leave the resort so I cannot speak to that. We had a couples massage at Red Lane Spa -so good. There is absolutely so much that could be written about. Our experience was 10/10.
