Marketed as a 5 star resort and, while it does have amenities that fulfil the label, it falls short of any 5 star resort I have experienced. Poor quality bedding, worn interiors, ineffective air-conditioning, no hot water! I don't plan on staying here again. CHECK-IN: Completely chaotic and disjointed. My party had 2 rooms booked - 3 BR Beachside Villa with Butler, 2 BR Suite with Butler. One of the rooms was not ready when we arrived despite the fact that we ran late and showed up at 5pm for a 4 pm check in time. When I complained I was told that 4pm is the time they choose to "start the check-in process" but that does not guarantee the room will be ready - in all my years of travel to all 5 contents I have never heard THAT one before. Check-in time is universally accepted as time a guest should expect their room to be available! It wasn't until we had waited till 6pm and I was by then VERY annoyed and insisted on speaking to a manager that I was offered an apology and compensation - a $50/hr past check-in credit - keep this in mind if you find yourself in the same situation. This was credited to the room at checkout - so you will have to spend something beyond the all-inclusive to take advantage of it. ROOMS: Generally dated - lots of chips on kitchen cupboards and doors that make it feel very 3 star, US$3700/night villa with double beds in the bedrooms seems really poor choice, and the mattresses and bedding were not great quality. For both our rooms the air con in common areas was great, the bedrooms were inadequate nights were quite uncomfortable - when maintenance checked, they agreed it was blowing warm air and recommended we turn on the fan. Kitchen was a large kitchen with a full fridge with not even one plate or set of cutlery - we had to request drinking glasses and they never came - some wine glasses did eventually. And then there was the hot water. There was none. In BOTH our rooms which were in different buildings in the resort, we all took cold/Luke warm showers for the whole of our stay. Housekeeping were generally good but they chose to leave fresh towels on the dining room table not refresh them in the en suites - 5 star treatment?? BUTLER SERVICE: Not really sure what this was meant to be but other than making dinner reservations for us, they didn't seem to do very much. I was told it was about VIP service. They called us VIPs a lot, but when it came to actually fulfillig requests - "not available" was the perpetual response. I don't think this is worth the extra money you pay, so I'd recommend skipping it. You are paying to be CALLED a VIP, not be treated like one. Speaking of reservations: Dinner reservations and Beach cabanas book out well before our stay - we had to have dinner at 8-9pm each night (with 2 kids in our party) because all the other times were booked - or you can go to the buffet which does not require bookings but you still have to wait for a table (even for breakfast), and the hostess

The resort is in a beautiful location along the white sand beaches and aqua blue water! The resort staff were so courteous, friendly and kind. The food was amazing and they made sure to make my birthday a special day while I was there it was wonderful! Shout out to the cook that grilled that delicious **** chicken on the beach every day! . My only complaint was with our first room And I think it was, the whole building was out of hot water for three days and they had no other rooms available. They did try to accommodate by sending us to the spa for showers, which is a little bit of inconvenience. Our sliding glass door wad also broken. The seal broke off along with the door coming apart, causing water all over the floor from the Rain we were having off and on. Once we changed rooms, we still had our beautiful ocean view. The bed was a bit too hard for me. other than that, I had a fabulous time we did get rained out one day because there was the hurricane coming so my friend and I went to the spa and I have to say we both said it had to of been the best massage we ever had. The spa was wonderful along with the staff ! I luckily was able to take the Hobie cat out a couple days where the water wasn’t too rough and I had so much fun and the staff was great and also told me a little bit of the history of the island As well. Overall we had a fun trip! Negatives: I have been travelling to all inclusive resorts for 20 years and this is a first that there was no buffet restaurant available at dinner. Every night was a challenge to eat dinner. Some of our group went back to our rooms to order room service as it was always a chore to eat. Room service cost an extra $10.00. Food quality was good but if you were tired from along day you didn’t want to have to spend all night to get a meal. First it could be anywhere from a half hour to an hour to wait for a table. Then another hour to two hours to eat. We didn’t have a butler. Seemed they did get the best service if you had a butler. As the butler would make reservations for you. It would be frequent tables would be empty and were waiting for a group. Beach could be cleaner. Pros Service at bars and beach were great. Abby one of the waitresses was great! She even brought our group a cooler of beer. We tipped her well. Best restaurant was the pier side. You could make a reservation for this restaurant. I actually booked it before we arrived. George was our server at the tepanaki grill. He was so much fun! Rooms were nice and spacious. View was beautiful if you are looking for Ocean view.

Jewel Grand Montego Bay was great! The facilities are beautiful and clean. The location is great. The staff are incredible! It is such a laid back atmosphere and the staff take care of you so well. We had not planned on having a butler with our stay, but we were so grateful to have had Ronald as our butler. He was so helpful, kind and fun!

We enjoyed our stay at Jewel Grand and had fantastic time! No complaints! I was a bit nervous after reading some reviews. People are too petty! Just enjoy Jamaica and the awesome people there! We would go again! The spa is pricey, buy my massage was great.

From the moment we arrived, we were meet by smiling faces and kind words of greetings. It took some time to get our key and to get to our room, however the staff provided us with a refreshing drink in the lobby while we waited our turn. The front desk staff provided us with all the information we would need to have a nice relaxing holiday. They advised us if there was anything we needed, to not hesitate and ask. We arrived between meals but we were pointed to the coffee shop for a quick snack to hold us over until supper. Our rooms were clean and yes they are somewhat dated as they were not built last year as it seems a lot of people expect :). We had a great view of the beach and a partially obstructed view of the stage. The food was spectacular in all the locations. Definitely recommend the Hibachi at least once. Sabrina puts on a awesome show. Yes the beach has sea ****, but the staff is out there trying to keep the beach clean. On windy days it is harder as the seas seem to cough it up quicker with the waves. We had no problem getting chairs but learned quickly if you want an umbrella or cabana, show up early and leave a towel. You cant leave a towel over night with makes it a fair challenge to get a good chair. Natassa and her bar staff did a phenomenal job serving us as well as all the other guests. We had nothing but outstanding interactions with the staff. The only thing they did not get repaired was the usb port in our room. However we always travel with our own powered hub for charging. It was sad the day we left, we could have easily enjoyed relaxing a few more days. The only recommendation I would have for this fine resort is maybe having a games room IE: Card table, shuffle board, billiard etc. Here is my recommendations for anyone reading this. You treat the staff as you would like to be treated. They are there to HELP you have a good time, not to be your slave and jump at your every request. I saw a couple of people who seemed to have this expectation of the staff. Stop looking for the little things to be picky about. Plan ahead. and in the words of the great Bob Marley "Don't worry about a thing, cause every little thing is going to be all right". Relax and remember you are on Jamaican time, it's like husband time, it will get done..:). Thank you to the Staff of the Jewel, we will return.

Where do I begin...we booked trip with West jet vacations to celebrate my 60th birthday and our 10 year anniversary. Our first encounter was via email with the resort inquiring whether they had distilled water for my cpap machine. They guaranteed me they had distilled water and not to worry. We called the front desk to see about getting water and they informed us that we had to call room service and there would be a $10 delivery charge($14 Cdn). This is for a medical condition. Upon arriving, 3pm in the afternoon, we were starving and wanted something to eat. Only to find out that the lunch buffet was closed. As they only open for lunch for 2 hours. Went to the Pelican Grill where you can order bar food, there the waitress demanded that we always ask for her for meals outside and the Italian restaurant. She was literally rude and made the point that we need to only use her as our waitress. At the restaurants you can not just walk inbut you also can't make a reservation. We finally got into eat at the Italian restaurant with the same waitress, once we ordered our meal, we waited close to 2 hours to eat. The following night, we waiting an hour and a half to get into the Steakhouse to eat. You have no choice but to wait because there is NO dinner buffet nor can you make a reservation. However, you can order room service 24 hour, where they charge you a $10 delivery fee each time. We travel twice a year, and have never been to a resort where you have to wait and have limited meals. Yes, the food is above average for a resort but the amount of time you have to wait and the meals are extremely limited. We are here for Superbowl weekend and have been informed in order to watch the game, you must pay $25 per person to watch the game. We are in building B, where there is only one working elevator and you are always waiting for that one elevator. There are 2 pools, both small and unheated. 2 outdoor bars, one closes at 6pm and the other at 10pm. The resort is extremely limited for entertainment. I am 60 years old and feel we are staying at a seniors resort, where they want you sleeping by 10pm. It is a beautiful resort but it is not suitable for a person with a disability or mobility issue as there are stairs everywhere to get to the beach or restaurants. Just to re iterate, I feel you are nickel and dimed on doing anything at this resort. So disappointed in the restaurants, the waitress that pushed herself onto us, making us feel extremely uncomfortable, telling us we could only deal with her. The lack of a dinner buffet, same meals in breakfast and lunch buffet everyday. The lunch buffet is very limited on choices and the menus in both never change. I feel I am staying at summer camp all over again. While on a holiday you should not have to wait 2 hours every night to eat. It bothers me that you can't even make reservations, yet if you pay for the butler service, you can have reservations. Actually looking forward to going home. On the positive, the

We stayed at Jewel to trend a wedding. Jewel is a little confusing as a property. There are rooms, suites, residences (condos and villas). They are all different and not all are All Inclusive. The property with private condos is the Palmyra. We eventually figured out these were all the same property. We booked 4 nights All inclusive in the hotel. allowing. We arrived early on the first day not expecting a room to be ready and it wasn’t. We made our way to the beach to find bathrooms to get changed in. We were directed to bathrooms under the building that houses the private residences. Oh what a bad mistake. The bathrooms didn’t have locking doors or lights that worked. The bathrooms had not been cleaned and smelled horrible. WELCOME. We made our way to a very crowded, tiny man made beach. We eventually found chairs, 3 deep, side by side with no space to move. The few umbrellas were all taken. Looking past that we decided we needed a drink. Not huge drinkers but why not. That person was hard to find and eventually came and brought drinks. She was never seen again. I even had a tip for her. Oh well. Next we decided we would have some of the jerked chicken that was freshly made on the beach. We had read it was the best food on the beach. Well what the cook lacked in personality the food made up for it. He wasn’t the most welcoming but the chicken was good. After a while we decided to go find the buffet. The buffet was unbelievably disappointing. The food was limited in type and choice. The fish looked like it had been there since the day before. There were FOUR different types of Indian food. This was totally bizarre. While I get catering to a crowd there were no Indians to be seen. This was repeated at every meal. Strange. The other food choices were few. The buffet was tiny compared to other AI hotels. I will say the breakfast did include a few Jamaican items which were good (and Indian choices 🤣). Now if you don’t make it to the buffet during specific hours do NOT expect to find food in other places. This again is not typical in AI hotels. We spent the afternoon on the beach and gave up when the **** smell drove us out. We went back to front desk finally got a key. The guys driving the golf carts were fantastic and friendly. They are great ambassadors for the hotel. The front desk ladies not so friendly. Our room and view was excellent. No complaints on the room, large room, clean,bed, bedding, towels, view etc. would happily stay in the room in C building. The fridge only has beer and soda but we don’t drink a lot. No issues with hot water or air conditioning. All worked well Dinner is served 6-9pm. We’re told that we didn’t need reservations. We went down about 6:30. The buffet is NOT open for dinner so grabbing a quick bite is not an option. We decided we didn’t want pizza/italian so headed to the main building. The first restaurant we walked too looked empty. Nice resort, staff very warm and helpful. Shoutout to our butlers Mr. G and Mr. Garon who very very helpful. Highly recommend you book with a butler, you were able to make dinner reservations this way and not wait on a long line for the first come first serve option. Butler Mr. G made us feel like VIP’s often picking us up and bringing us to dinner, bringing us drinks and offering to bring us food poolside. He helped our husband Husband book tee time to golf and anything we needed in our room both the Butler’s were extremely helpful in getting that to us as soon as possible, such as extra towels or washing machine detergent for doing laundry. The pools are not heated, but we enjoyed them as well as the protected beach area where you can swim easily, and we appreciated. The catamaran rides provided free of charge as well as use of equipment and the daily lively beach volleyball games. The food was OK, some restaurants better than others and some places you did have to wait a long time to get served your food. The best bartender is named Keron aka Mr. K or Special K as the other staff lovingly call him, who made excellent drink drinks and always brought upbeat vibes and a big smile. We tried to tip the staff wherever we went. I personally would not return to the resort due to one particular daily experience, which is the nightly entertainment, which was extremely loud and difficult to put the children to bed as well as to rest or hear the ocean. The nightly entertainment runs usually from 8:15 to 9:30 PM but sometimes to 9:45 PM as the DJ would continue to play. Even with noise cancellation headphones on, you could still hear the music. This personally felt very stressful, especially after a long day doing activities when you wanted to just rest and relax. There was literally no way to get away from the sound. In addition in our suite when you sit on the balcony in the morning, all you could hear were fans or the sound of kitchen noises next-door. The room could definitely use some updating and the bed unfortunately was not comfortable. The staff and the Butler’s overall made up for anything that felt negative, and this provided a wonderful experience in terms of their service.
