Relais la Costa Historical Residence

I recently stayed at this beautiful Tuscan hotel, and it was truly a memorable experience. Nestled peacefully in the forest on a hill, the hotel offers stunning views and a very calming atmosphere that makes it a perfect retreat. The property itself is well-maintained and charming, blending seamlessly into the natural surroundings. The pool area was especially enjoyable, providing a perfect space to relax and unwind. The location of the hotel is excellent—peaceful and remote, yet still within easy reach of historical landmarks and cultural sites. It’s also conveniently close to the town of Siena, which was the highlight of our stay. We absolutely loved exploring Siena with its rich history, beautiful architecture, and vibrant atmosphere. However, there were a few aspects that could be improved. We experienced an issue with no hot water, which we reported to reception. While they assured us someone would come to fix it while we were out, the problem was not resolved during our stay. Fortunately, the weather was warm, so it wasn’t a major inconvenience, but it could have been problematic if it had been colder. One area that particularly stood out for needing improvement was the lunch menu. Prices were well above average for the area, and having eaten out for every meal during our stay, we had a good sense of local pricing and offerings. If the hotel is going to charge significantly more than nearby restaurants, there should be a noticeable step up in quality and creativity. As it stands, the lunch options felt underwhelming for the premium price point. Additionally, the road up to the hotel is all dirt, which made it quite tricky to ascend in our small city car. Drivers should be prepared for the bumpy approach.

Beautiful old estate out in the sticks, a 20 minute drive to Siena, not ten as some will say. There is about a kilometer of gravel road as you near the house, but otherwise the roads back to town are very good. There is also a nice supermarket as you come into the outskirts of Siena. The hotel setting is just gorgeous. The pic of the little seating area with the hillside in front of you is a place where you could just sit all day and sip your wine or coffee while enjoying the view. The pool is up the hill so it has the best views of Siena and the hillside. The breakfast was minimal, but the cappuccinos were excellent. We eat dinner early, so we did not have dinner there, but it looked and smelled great when we walked by the dining area. The chef was very helpful in getting us more firewood one night, even though that was not his job. Yes, we had a fireplace in our unit and we lit it all three nights we were there. We sat on the couch in front of the fire and read and watched TV, very cozy. I do have one complaint about the TV... It was all in Italian, even the American movies. lol. The bed was comfortable. I read some complaints about the WiFi. It worked fine for us. The spa looked great. There was a giant hot tub and a massage area. The price to use the spa was 150 euros for 2 hours. Sadly, I am a bit of a cheap ba$+@rd, so we did not try it out. My wife and I agreed that this was the favorite place we stayed on our two week trip. Would absolutely stay there again.

We had an excellent stay at the Relais La Costa Dimore Storica. We were there for 8 days and did day trips to the various towns in Tuscany. The manager, Margherita, was wonderful in ensuring all was well with our stay and provided daily road trip ideas. Stefano, our host and server throughout our stay, was an ambassador for the Relais. A true gentleman who tended to all the details and was an absolute pleasure to deal with. The Relais itself is beautifully restored and well maintained. Our bedroom was large and spacious with a separate living room. The bathroom was small with limited space to put your toiletries and had a small shower. The cleaning staff were occasionally remiss in replacing the towels when we placed them on the ground and providing soap, but this was very minor and rectified when requested. They serve an excellent breakfast which we ate on the patio. The fixed tasting dinner menu was very good as well. Small portions consisting of an appetizer, pasta dish, meat dish and dessert, however, some dishes became repetitive if you had dinner more than 3 nights in a row. I would highly recommend the Relais La Costa Dimore Storica. It is a very peaceful place to stay.

A peaceful and enveloping environment in a sublime location. The hotel is reached by ascending a winding road through rolling hills and cypress groves. We arrived at dusk and the stone walls of the ancient convent were pink gold. The rooms are large, comfortable and very well appointed. The amenities were top shelf and the soaps and lotions were, of course, olive oil based. A bountiful breakfast is served on the hillside courtyard. The selections include Tuscan specialties, great cheeses and pastries. All breakfasts were individually prepared and served by the cook herself. Finally there is a grey pool at the top of the terraced hill( where many of the vegetables and fruits served at breakfast are grown) is a pool with an unimpeded view of the hills, vineyards, valleys and woods all the way to Siena.

Lovely historic boutique hotel with great views of Tuscany. We stayed in a two-bedroom suite which offered us plenty of space to relax and hangout. Each room is unique due to the nature of this historic building. Daly's breakfast selection is great and the staff is very friendly and supportive. They also offer a farm-to-table dinner which you are strongly recommended to make reservations for. The location is a bit remote but you can easily drive to quite a few nearby towns, including Siena.

We had a great stay in this lovely, comfortable boutique hotel made up of beautifully restored old buildings with great views across the Tuscan countryside towards Siena. All members of staff looked after us well and they are obviously very passionate about what they do. The chef, Francesca's, tasting menus were a delight.
