Dreams Lodge

Everything was great. We used the hotel as a base to explore Monteverde and the Cloud Forest. The hotel is not centrally located, so you need a car to get there. However, this makes for a very peaceful stay. The price is reasonable (though the discount applied only if you paid in cash, which we only found out at the hotel). The staff is very friendly, offering advice on what to do or where to eat, and they helped us organize excursions to the zip lines and hanging bridges. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. Highly recommended hotel.

Good location, very helpful staff, great breakfast (plus you can use the kitchen for prepping your own food). Rooms did not have air con or dehumidifier so sheets and towels were damp throughout and were not changed over 3 days/2 nights (website claims daily room service which did not materialise)

This was a great place to stay in the cloud forest. The rooms were perfect and breakfast was really good. The bonus for us was when the capuchin monkeys showed up after breakfast while we were getting ready to leave, so we got to give them bananas to eat. The staff was super friendly and always accomodating. They recommended a superb night tour and made arrangments for us to be picked up. You cannot go wrong with this place - it is a must stay!

Extremely friendly staff, and Tonney won't let you leave for your daily activities until you've had his breakfast!! Fairly quiet (there is a small dirt road that runs adjacent to the property, where dirtbikes and ATV's occasionally go down, making noise), secluded property. Good location, outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown, but close enough to go for restaurants and activities! Rooms are a little small. Bathroom, including the shower, was less than 2 meters square. A lot of colorful birds around! We saw some wild parrots in the treetops!! Howler monkeys will wake you up at sunrise!! (we enjoyed hearing them :) )

My family of 4 (2 adults/2 teens) traveled to Monteverde to show the kids where we had visited 15 years ago on our honeymoon. (For this trip we decided to splurge on a place in Arenal and keep within a stricter budget in MV. Ironically, we found our hotel in Arenal extremely overpriced and unpleasant.) While it is true that the Dreams Lodge is low-frills, and the bathrooms are small and sparse, we were not looking for nor expecting luxury. What we needed was some TLC from staff and pleasant surroundings. This is exactly what we experienced! The rooms were clean. The beds had multiple standard-sized pillows (including some smaller throw pillows) and we each found what worked for us. The bathrooms were equipped with pedestal sinks, and a hutch with shelves for toiletries. (Having had no towel bars in the more expensive place in Arenal, we made due without the towel bars here as well. I brought a hanger in the room and hung my towel out to dry.)… What made the Dreams Lodge experience so wonderful for us was the staff, the surrounding wildlife, and the location. It was far enough from town to see wildlife on the grounds and appreciate a starlit sky on a windy night, but just a short drive to grab dinner in town. We had a troop of capuchin monkeys visit us each day. The staff were friendly, they allowed us to store our belongings in the office both for our early arrival AND our late departure. Breakfast was delicious. They offered transportation services to various locations and provided recommendations based on our interests. We also really enjoyed a nice little restaurant just a short walk down the dirt road that served great drinks and food in a lovely wood-paneled dining room. (I wish I remembered the name). Our friend’s daughter had a leg brace on and did fine walking the short distance down the road to the restaurant.

Clean but sparse. Not even a towel bar in the bathroom. No AC . No window screens. Can't even open a window. Furnishings need update. Water in bathroom came and went. No hot water in bathroom sink. Breakfast was good. The women who prepared it were very nice. Front desk had an attitude.

Small, quiet, family operated accomodations located very close to several restaurants and attractions. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. Couldn't of asked for more. Our family really enjoyed staying here for a few days.

We reserved two rooms - they were spartan, but they really made every effort to make it charming. Flowers were dispersed throughout the room, and they gave us a sweet collection of holiday candy. The hotel is family-run and the folks that we interacted with were all very nice and helpful. The served us a very nice home-made breakfast which included a collection of yummy local fruit. My biggest complaint is the pillows, which were basically filled with chunks of foam. I have some neck issues and these pillows were pretty tough for me to sleep on - I wound up sleeping without a pillow.

Dreams Lodge is a quiet and nice place to stay. Room was extremely clean, nice and comfortable. Breakfast was great as well. Receptionist Betsy was very helpful with advising and arranging different activities during our stay in Monteverde. I can highly recommend the Dreams Lodge.
