La Marine de Loire Hôtel & Spa

This hotel is in a very beautiful location but sadly, tired and dated. The spa area was rather good but there seemed to be an absence of staff there. A warning, we had booked a suite which turned out to be on two floors and rather difficult to manage if you aren’t good with stairs. The furniture and curtains were old and the carpets looked dirty. The bathroom had a very narrow bath/shower, no slip mats or grab handles. The room rate is very expensive for what you get, ‘certainly’ not value for money. I would not recommend this hotel.

The staff are amazing - great pool and spa - rooms are great (and air conditioned ) the area is wonderful for cycling .

Just returning home from another (perhaps our 4th or 5th trip) thoroughly enjoyable couple of days here. Lovely, helpful staff as always. Exceptionally clean rooms with beautiful linens. We enjoyed time by the pool and using the spa facilities. The Sunday brunch was amazing as was breakfast. Looking forward to our next visit!

Excellent

We checked into this hotel in September right on the banks of the Loire in Monstoreau. We were warmly welcomed by Victor and allocated a beautiful room to the front of the house and overlooking the river. We worried as this was on the road it would be noisy but it was peaceful with excellent glazing and we slept peacefully in a beautifully comfortable bed. The bathroom with separate toilet was big, plenty of space for everything. Breakfast was plentiful, and delicious, they do not have a restaurant, but there are a number in the surrounding area which are listed in the room. Their Wellness area is here is one the best I’ve ever experienced, the calmness of the Hammam, indoor pool/jacuzzi, sauna and steam room just made a calm day even more calm. Outside the wellness area are lovely gardens for a glass of wine, cup of tea/coffee in complete peace. We wanted to stay another night but, alas there was no room!! There was a festival in Saumur just a few kilometres away and it was such fun, tasty nibbles and wine-tasting + crafts and even choirs, not to mention boat trips on the traditional boats of the area. An excellent market took place in the village square on the Saturday. I could count on the fingers of one hand the amount of hotels to which I would return in France and this is one of them….we look forward to visiting again.
