Lake Biwa Marriott Hotel recensioner

Nice resort-style hotel by Biwako. Great if you are driving to explore the area, as it is in a somewhat of a central location near lots of places of attraction. The Japanesd style room is spacious and we got a view of the Lake.

Peaceful environment, kids and pet friendly, good Onsen experience, reasonable breakfast arrangements with good variety, high recommended for a relaxing trip.

Pros - Astonishing view - I had both dinner and breakfast in the hotel and both are delicious - Staffs are dedicated to serve - so despite the language the overall experience is still very enjoyable Cons - It surprised me how little English the staff can speak, especially in the restaurant (I don't normally complain about this in Japan but this is a Marriott...) - The shuttle bus service is a bit off... Last bus from station to hotel is before 19:00 and the information is so hard to find

I have never seen such poorest service at reception counter. Our three families joined at this hotel and wanted to know room number each other. Reception counter stuffs refused our request. We believe that if customers agree each other to disclose their room number, no problem at all. Quite disgusting attitude!

Clean and well-maintained room. Nice breakfast. Few minutes drive to a big shopping mall. Onsen is not a big one, but its still nice to have.

Very good view next to Lake Biwa. The hot spring is also good but with extra fee.

If u are going for a bike ride tour around Biwako this would be a perfect place to stay. There is a Giant bike rental store next door so you can pick up your rental bike for a nice ride along the lake.

It is a well-maintained hotel with a great view if you have a room facing the lakeside. But the issue with this hotel is that it is so badly located that there isn't anything in close proximity to it, so if you are checking in late, then the only option for the food would be the in-house restaurant, which only has a seasonal set menu and I think is on the pricey side for its offerings. (it's okay for a fine dining restaurant, but the breakfast was good.) and also because of its location. It would be an issue if you don't drive, very much a pain to get here using public transportation. They do offer a shuttle bus service, but it only goes to the KATATA station and only operates in certain hours, so check with the front desk before planning your trip. Another downside is the front desk is not very good with English on the phone (but its not really their problem because you are in Japan), make sure you ask for someone who speaks English if you have any questions.
