Fergus Cactus Garden

Currently staying here since 28th July the date of the review is 2nd August 2025. Booked this hotel based on reviews and budget. Arrived very late on the 28th and was allocated our room. 402 . The reception team have been great. Including the lady who checked us in dispute getting attacked by mosquitoes. We went to our room on the 4th floor to find that the room allocated had a Terrace that over looked a corridor. The only way in and out of the room was also through the Terrace. The room was large clean and tidy, the balcony / Terrace wasn't what we were expecting so the following day we spoke of our disappointment and that we had emailed the hotel prior to our stay with a reply we have made a note of your requests and we will se what we can do. Sebastian on reception was really good and managed to find us a sea view room however we wouldn't beable to move until the following day. When we moved it wasn't until later in the day 6pm time we were offered a further discount on the room rate even though we paid for the upgrade for the inconvenience. The room 711 is of a good size with a balcony facing the beach and the light house . Room cleaning isn't great as we had to return glasses on two occasions. and the floor is grubby, not been mopped. The pool is busy with kids splashing about as expected , however on the 6th floor is a large area with a Hot Tub. Although lacking a bar it's a bit off a treak to the bar at the pool . Now the worst things about the Hotel the food choice is extremely limited and repetitive both Lunch and evening meals. The snack bar closes at the times the restaurant is open. Breakfast is ok however the sausages are cheap tinned rubbish. Only 1 butter option and it's horrible. The location is great however the food service let's it down and so do some off the bar staff as it seemed to much trouble yesterday when I asked for a cheese burger and chips with a tut as his response then further hindrance as he had to get of his stool to poor a beer. Only 4 cocktails on the all inclusive the rest you have to pay for

This hotel is well run and managed. The staff are hard working and friendly. Maintenance keeps the place looking sharp. Rooms with side sea view are quite large, lovely bathroom and the balcony was roomy with chairs and a table. Room 802 top floor was nice to sit out and get some sun, modern and clean. We stayed half board plus, well worth it, drinks with meals are included and plentiful. The food was varied with plenty of choices if you are prepared to be adventurous and try something different. Fish or meat cooked in batches at the buffet so could have it piping hot if timed right. Microwave to heat up your veg if you need it piping! Plentiful salad choices too if preferred. Hubby wasn't enamoured with the food but he's very fussy didn't go hungry tho! Location of hotel excellent for things to do during day and cafes/restaurants/shops/supermarkets all very close.

Just came back yesterday . when we checked in the staff member was great ( not like some negative feedback from others ) she was so helpful , friendly , informative and went through details well . as we missed dinner time she said to settle in the room and have a drink and there will be a cold buffet avaible in an hour . as this was me and my wife's 30th anniversary our children booked this holiday and informed the hotel who gave a a bottle of bubbly and a upgrade on the room . the room was great , clean , spacious, balcony wirh view of beach and sea . the bathroom was a good size and the rooms were cleaned daily . only had a small issue where the AC was not working properly within 30 mins a maintenence guy was there and resolved it but it did stop working a couple a of days before leaving but we use to leave the balcony door open which let in a lovely breeze . facilities wise it was great beach is less than 4 mins walk across the road , the pool was a decent size and had a separate kids pool , lounger were available but filled up quickly but with the beach minutes away we always went there . all inclusive on drinks is limited to certain drinks and cocktails but a good choice , the roof top bar is great but you have yo pay for drinks , level 6 has a jacuzzi there which was good and had a good area for sunbathing which we used , there's a decent gym available and spa and massage place but we didn't use that. Food was good with a decent choice of mains , salads , breads , desserts, sides . changed daily and had themed nights . liked the idea of the veggie station for vegetarians which was good . they have daily meat / fish stations. must say watch out for the doner kebab as it was fantastic in flavour and one of the best I had . finally the staff they were all fantastic always acknowledged you from the maintenence, kitchen , spa , bar staff , restaurant staff and cleaners and reception . The service was great nothing was to much to ask and done within 30 mins. one of the best hotels I've been to and makes the customer enjoy there stay . keep up the great work team Fergus and most definitely I will be back and a must recommendation.

I'm writing this review on my final evening of 9..august into September. First experience of the reception staff was excellent. So helpful and informative. Our room was on the 6th floor, nice view over the most amazing beach....and a little bit of the mountains...the room is great. No complaints...beds were great..shower was great... Housekeeping was in every day I think with clean bedding, towels and floors mopped.more than I could aks for. My son and I came all inclusive, I had a Little apprehension as I try to eat mostly vegan at home, and was totally expecting to relax that a little. My lad is a typical 14 year old and fairly adverse to trying different foods. The restraint is laid out with a hot area, there's regular stuff on there like chips,potatoes, rice, and dishes which change, pork loin in sauce, fish in sauce, etc...then there is a station were food is prepared fresh, be it fish, eggs,omelettes etc...theres usually a paella of some sort and quite often amazing pizzas. There's a fresh salad area with individual vegetables, ie peppers, sweetcorn etc. Another section with prepared salads, ie cous cous.salad, russian salad, coleslaw....these seem to vary. Then there's desserts which are pretty similar every day, and a fresh fruit counter..plus all sorts of condiments and sides etc. As a very fussy eater I was able to construct some sort of meal every day, without too much bother..my lad was just as flexible and would always have something. Breakfast there is everything you could wish for..cereals, pastries, hot food or beans, sausages, bacon,eggs....pancakes..churros... Someone mentioned coffee in an earlier review...the coffee is great..but it is super strong...might not be to everyone's taste. Did I have any concerns about food hygiene? No..occasional spec on washed plate....everything seemed fresh enough. Sometimes the food on the hot area was no longer hot, for example I had baked beans one day which had lost their temperature. It was the remainder of the container...and there was another behind...so I expect it was mostly bad timing on my behalf, bad luck. Bae drinks are fine..San Miguel is San Miguel, local spirits are on the all inclusive menu, and they are as to be expected...you can supplement for main brand spirits when you order of you like. I didn't try the pool... We ended up at the beach every day...it's amazing...obviously miss out a little on the all inclusive when you go out..luckily it's only minutes away.. I did spend a decent amount of time on the sun deck on floor 6… with the jacuzzi....that's a nice place to hang out... A few hours on the roof in the evenings...now this is a shame, there's supposed to be the bar open up there some evenings...I wasn't aware of it opening...it would be a great place to hang if you don't want to be by the main bar...nothing stopping you bringing drinks up mind. My wife and I spent a wonderful week at the Fergus Hotel.(August 21-28.) At the beginning of the holiday we were not given the right room, but after 1 day of patience the hotel employee changed it for us to an ideal one. For this we would like to say a special thank you to Pablo, who helped us a lot, was very kind and even gave us a welcome drink. We felt very good the whole time, the foods was delicious, varied and plentiful. What should be improved is that the wi-fi signal should be stronger in all premises of the hotel, because in the rooms or in areas further from the reception it was either very weak or unavailable. Otherwise everything was very good, cleanliness, kindness, attentiveness, if we return to Fuerteventura we will choose Fergus again.
