Ameg Lodge Kilimanjaro

The positives - Beautiful rooms, lovely pool, good gym, lovely grounds - the place looks great and presents really well. Average - Restaurant area is nicely done and food is ok - (bizarrely they have 2 parallel menus with identical items at different prices but apparently different kitchens - just a bit weird and food was ok but pretty bland) Good - really useful to let us leave our suitcases whilst we climbed mt Kilimanjaro The negatives - customer service was just weird. They treated us like a walking ATM and it felt they tried to exploit us when we had a problem. Our flight to leave was cancelled at 10 hours notice and we asked if we could pay to use facilities for a further half day until evening. (This was our problem but we needed a bit of help and were willing to pay and be flexible!) It seems that the senior Staff were not empowered to come up with a solution. The boss was contacted and told us we needed to fully book another nights stay at full cost! $320! We were stunned but The senior member of staff on duty told me “you’re a mzungu (foreigner) - you can afford it”!!! Just rude. We asked if something lost in translation - apparently not. Other staff were embarrassed and a clear disconnect between staff and the owners. Not sure where problem is but it made all the pleasantries seem insincere and superficial. We managed to fudge the situation the next day and staff were nice but it left a bad taste.

Arrived after dark and were greeted by a wonderful staff who made us comfortable after two long days of travel. Room was small and somewhat outdated, but the bathroom as upgraded. After a wonderful nights sleep we were surprised to see the wonderful grounds with the many beautiful flowers. Has a filling buffet breakfast before packing to continue our trip

I chose this hotel as a quiet place to focus on writing, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The atmosphere is peaceful, making it easy to concentrate and relax. The Indian food here deserves a special mention — it was truly outstanding, some of the best I have ever had. Even though I didn’t get to enjoy the swimming pool and gym as much as I would have liked (writing kept me busy!), both facilities are exceptional and very well maintained. The staff were consistently friendly, welcoming, and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. If you're looking for a peaceful spot with great service, excellent dining, and top-notch amenities, this hotel is a fantastic option. I would happily return.

AMEG has become my go-to place in Moshi -- it's a beautiful garden setting, with excellent service, good food, and a wonderful pool. I almost forgot about some really interesting birds. The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean, and the setting is very relaxing. Thank you for an excellent stay.

Our visit to Ameg Lodge was extremely disappointing. After swimming, my hair turned completely green due to excessive chlorine—something that has never happened before. When we politely asked for a refund (just $10), the staff was kind and willing to help, but the owner stepped in and was incredibly rude. He refused to take responsibility, blamed us for choosing to swim, and even wanted pictures of us to ban us from returning. To make matters worse, he started yelling at his own employees for not taking pictures of our IDs upon arrival—something we’ve never experienced at a pool before. His behavior was unprofessional, uncomfortable, and completely unnecessary. Avoid this place—especially because of the owner.

Stayed three nights before heading to Mt Kilimanjaro. The bathrooms and the gym are a bit outdated but completely functional. The pool is beautiful, well-maintained and perfect for relaxing. As others have mentioned, the included breakfast is quite good. Service was a bit slow, but the staff were all pleasant and friendly.
