Mwazaro Beach Lodge

We went here to end our African travels at the beach. This was the such a nice end to our trip! The airport transfers that were arranged before our arrival played out flawlessly. Even with our arriving later to the Mombasa airport due to missing our flight, our driver stayed on standby and was waiting for us when we arrived! From the moment we arrived to Mwazaro, the staff was top-tier with their attentiveness and hospitality. The manager, Paul, was great. Communication was always clear. Everyone there, from the owner of the establishment, to the manager, to the bartenders, waiters, and guards were so friendly and welcoming! We arrived at night so we had no idea what beauty awaited us. When we woke, we could not believe our eyes. The ocean was right in front of us, the property was so beautiful and pristine. And the food was amazing at every meal! We took to tour to the sand bar, the beauty continued! It was a very nice addition to our stay. It was also very calm which we loved. After having traveled for over two weeks, we were looking for a place to wind down. We both said we'd love to come back if we're ever able to travel to Kenya again. The only reason why I did not give 5 stars is because they were doing construction on the premises while we were there. We live in a very large, constantly growing city. Construction is always going on. Honestly, if I would have known there would be construction going on while we were there, I would have chosen another location. As much as I hear hammers, drills, etc. on a daily bases, I would not have paid to hear that while sunbathing at the beach or while getting a massage. I even stopped my massage, got off the massage table, and turned on some spa music from Spotify (on my phone) to drown out the construction noises. The owner of the resort explained that the construction was suppose to have been completed by June. I could tell she was frustrated that it was still going on while guests were there. And I understand that was completely out of their control. It still would've been nice to receive some type of refund or a complimentary service for the inconvenience. Other than this con (which was a pretty big one for me), it was an amazing stay!

Mwazaro beach lodge is absolutely special and we thoroughly enjoyed the peace and calm. It's for the discerning traveller seeking total relaxation. Our highlights were the ocean views & the most beautiful sunrise. Everywhere you look, the ocean is majestically right there and this was such a welcome delight. You have a front row to one of the most beautiful sunrises in Kenya. The food is fresh, amazing and well thought out. Special appreciation to the reservations manager Linda, Chef Juma & his entire restaurant team. They catered to us with genuine warmth and professionalism. Mwazaro beach lodge, we experienced barefoot luxury and rest assured, we will return in the near future.

Here our feedback mail to the lodge team: "Our 2024 had been an outstanding challenging one and we needed a real cut. We got it thanks to you all. Especially the first week removed our tension. The location, the food, your service, your friendlyness and obligingness - just outstanding. Even to some of you we got in a more or less personel realationship. And to some of you we´ve had a pleasant direct contact. Those one know who is ment. And we enjoyed it by heart. We had a lot of fluffy days, appreciated your humour and professiolism in treating us as your guests. But at the end it is a result of your well structured team work. A German saying goes "You always meet twice in live." And we´ll try to realise that in perhaps 2 or 3 years." Just one to be commented in addition: it is a location for rather individualists who are looking for seclusion of the mainstream. We enjoyed it be heart. We´ve been there for kitesurfing.

Amazing place, with very friendly staff. Perfect location for some peace and quiet. The food is great. The beach is white and amazingly clean. Mangroves also bring the place to life. You can kayak at dawn as the sun rises. This place is worth every dime.

The place is lovely, the staff fabulously friendly and accomodating, and the restaurant also a plus! It is a great escape/get away from everything.

Beautiful private beach, authentically furnished spacious luxury rooms built with natural materials. Unbelievable sea views, delicious meals and perfect coffee! The location couldn't be better! This is an ideal getaway for couples and families who want to stay away from mass tourism and immerse themselves in nature. Shimoni is the best kite surfing location and snorkeling spot in Kenya, teeming with dolphins and turtles. The love and attention to detail put in everything is the cherry on the cake. Expect to meet friendly faces all day! The staff are happy and available to assist but not too pushy. It was a pleasure chatting to the amazing owners; Tino & Christoph who were the most gracious of hosts. I will be back!
