Murray Downs Resort

The rooms are tired and dated. The skirting boards filthy and piles of dead insects on the window sills. The screen door in the bedroom does not lock, so no fresh air at night and the torn screen lets in swarms of mozzies Mainly tradies staying in the adjoining rooms, and the walls so thin you can be woken by their early alarms. Can’t see how they claim this is four stars.

On arrival the room allocated was smelly. That night we were woken up with a mouse breaking into our food. The next morning we decided to search the room for the mouse. We discovered 5 mouse traps placed under our bed and behind the lounge . Two of the traps contained dead mice one of these mice in an advanced state of decay ,thus the smell in our room. How can a responsible management put any client in a room that they knew was compromised ( 5 traps in place and they were not monitored ie the days old rotting mouse which constitutes a serious health hazard) . The reception team shared our horror and all agreed they would not want to occupy that room. We were relocated to a mouse free room. I requested to meet with the manager, he did not take up my request. To compensate us for the appalling treatment we were offered a $74 dollar discount from our 4 day stay, we were dissatisfied and asked for contact from the manager which was not forthcoming. The management of the accommodation does not do justice to a great location.

We booked a Deluxe room which, looking at the 'Web, seemed to provide some extra space as against the "usual" motel rooms . On arrival it proved we did get the extra space but the bedroom itself is not overly large, but adequate. Overall the unit was satisfactory but certainly not luxurious as we had hoped. MD is clearly largely for golfers, and perhaps not for travellers such as us. Breakfast is only served in the rooms , while the bistro is open for lunch and dinner closing at 9pm. Looking at the memu gave the impression that the fare was relatively limited, and of pub grub standard. While not playing golf, the course that we saw looked excellent Wi fi iffy and slow Rating is based on accommodation only Our planned stay of two nights was cut short to one night due to the slightly disappointing accommodation, and the lack of any real dining at the "Resort"

We have been coming to this resort for a few years now but our last stay of 4 nights has left us quite disappointed. A camping car was allowed to be stationed and used next to our room, and their occupants allowed to use all the facilities and the pool, which made the place quite crowded and rowdy, and with a feeling that we were in a camping site. This should not be allowed at all. The rooms now feel tired, and could do with a fresh coat of paint. Leaking shower, loose kitchen tap, no proper bedside lamps, furniture that looks over 20 years of old… and rooms not done.

Only hours before arriving we were informed that our room was "Double Booked" and the two bedroom appartment we had booked for TWO nights was no longer available. Instead we, three single adults, were "Upgraded" to the Executive Spa Room. (The Spa being useless to us) There was no privacy for us as two beds were in the main living area. Had to walk through the main bedroom to use the bathroom. The apartment we booked had a full kitchen the alternate room had a small bar fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave only. It was pretty clear to us that a large group that were golfing for the weekend (Thurs to Sun) were prioritsed and got our originally booked room. We had large groups drinking in front of our room and no parking for our vehicle as our rooms spot was taken by others. We watched as cleaners arrived to clean another room on a golf cart and watched all the clean towels dropped along the driveway only to see the staff walk back to collect them all off the ground, shake them off and refold them and carry them into a room. The room itself was outdated, and poorly laid out. We were a bit grossed out to find a set mouse trap behind one of the couches. For out two nights stay with three adults we had one roll of toilet paper in the room and had to ask for more, This property would be fine for a "Boys Weekend" away of drinking and golfing but not really the "Resort" type accomadation expected. After travelling for a week prior along the Murray we were disapponted with this accomadation. *Note we did actually look for alternative accomadation in the area but there was nothing suitable on such short notice

Stayed here on a two night business trip. Monday night, noises everywhere inside, from behind fridge, couches under bed. Tuesday night, sitting at the table noticed a mouse scurry behind couch around 7.30, I looked behind couch and there is a mousetrap, same behind second couch. Around 9.15 I hear a snap and went to have a look, sure enough a mouse was caught. The remainder of the night, same thing with noises coming from everywhere, the place was full of mice. At checkout I mentioned this to reception, an apology was offered but it did not seem sincere. It was obviously a known problem as the room had mouse traps, why wasn't this mentioned at booking or reception? No chance of staying there if it was. I stayed in a family unit, what if there were kids and they stuck a finger in one of the traps? The unit was self contained and not serviced daily, a dead mouse could go unnoticed until it started stinking up the place, a bit of a health issue? I won't be posting pictures of the dead mouse but happy to share with hotel management and hear their side of the story. Terrible experience do not stay here!
