Safari Island

I had always dreamed of a holiday in The Maldives, and my husband and i visited in May for our 25th wedding anniversary. It didn’t disappoint. We stayed in a semi water bungalow which gave us the best of both worlds- direct stairs into the water, but also a perfect “icing sugar” beach a 20second walk away. The room was very big and the bed extremely comfortable. It was kept exceptionally clean. The staff treated every guest like royalty. We took the overnight whale shark boat trip and the crew were phenomenal. We saw dolphins and a couple of turtles from the boat, and after various false alarms and much persistence from the crew, my hubby and I got in the water with a whale shark - it was beyond wonderful!!! Especially as the crew were very clever and got us in without drawing the attention of the various speedboats-so we had the shark to ourselves! On the island we saw manta-rays, nurse and black tipped sharks and all variety of fish! Snorkeling is not to be missed! The food was fantastic-something different every day. Our anniversary dinner on the beach was postponed by a day as a storm hit (the storm was amazing!), but the room decoration and bottle of fizz delivered to the room made up for that! 10/10 loved every second and would recommend as a holiday to remember. Many fabulous memories made.

Beautiful island, the staff were all amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. The room attendant kept our room spotless. The food was good, lots of different choices. Big reef to snorkel around...the sharks under the restaurant ..wow the biggest I've seen to date, and this is our 7th trip to the Maldives. First stay on Safari Island. We normally pay at least £2000 more for our Maldivian holidays, so were a bit reticent of what we might expect, however there was no need to worry, it was great. There was only entertainment on a Sunday night, so very peaceful, just as we like it. Big thanks to our waiter Shiraz, total professional and very funny. And to all the barstaff in particular Sanjaya, what a lovely young man.

We stayed at Safari Island resort to celebrate our birthdays and 25th Wedding anniversary. The resort although small and slightly dated, was everything we could have asked for, for our first visit to the Maldives. We stayed in a beach bungalow which was located on the lagoon side. It was a good size and we had a gorgeous location on the beach which gave us amazing sunsets! Our bungalow was kept clean by Limaz and he decorated our room for both our birthdays and our anniversary which was lovely! The resort also booked us for a 4 course dinner on the beach to celebrate our anniversary which was amazing. We went half board plus which was ample. The buffet restaurant was fabulous…plenty of choice and always fresh and plentiful! We had the same table reserved the whole of our stay which was great. Our waiter Hassan Lateef was amazing. He was always attentive and had our drinks ready for us as we arrived. They also provided us with birthday cakes for our birthday which was a great touch. The reef was amazing for snorkelling and we saw so much marine life. Overall we had an amazing holiday and for couples who want a relaxing break, this resort is everything you could ask for. Number 1 on my bucket list and I can say it didn’t let us down, from the sea plane to the boat and onto the island this place is heaven, the staff are amazing, friendly, hardworking, the food is amazing tried things we hadn’t tried before, the beach bungalows are lovely and the beach is breathtaking, my other ultimate dream was to see the sharks that are here, baby blacktips so cute and don’t bother you while you are in the sea, the 3 bars are lovely with stunning views, if I don’t manage to get back here at least I can tick paradise off my bucket list 😊

We stayed in a water bungalow for 14 nights and there are good points and some not so good as explained in this review. Let’s start with the good….. Check in at resort was good and we were given a cool towel and a welcome drink, documents checked and a brief description of the island and also given a leaflet explaining the resort’s itinerary. Our room wasn’t ready so we were shown to the pool bar to relax and then told to have diner and then our room would be ready. Lunch is served later on a Friday for religious reasons so we didn’t get into our room till 2pm we arrived at 10.00am. The restaurant was bright and very clean and we were welcomed by the head waiter Hassan Latiffe, our table was great we could see all the sea life while enjoying the food. We were shown around the area and drinks were brought to you. Hassan was very attentive and always making sure we were alright and had drinks. Food was varied, hot and labelled which has good for allergies. Sea life was amazing so many different species, sharks, mantra, turtle, too many fish to name. There were herons to watch as well. The BBQ on the beach was really nice and good value for money. The room size was good and the view was amazing we were on the reef side. Sand was soft and easy to walk on. The two main bars were comfortable to sit in and enjoy a drink looking at the scenery. Now for the not so good…. Disappointed at the lack of cleanliness in the room, still rubbish from previous guests under the bed, shower head full of lime scale, towels very worn and frayed. Definitely needs some upgrading on furniture and decking area, sun loungers were starting to come apart. Outside table and chairs would have been a welcome addition to sit outside at night, also a light above the bed for reading. The room gentleman wasn’t that bothered about anything. We found the restriction of only being able to take two cans each of soft drink to stock your fridge and also only two bottles of water in your room a bit strange especially when you are all inclusive. However you could get two cans each time you visited the bar. Always you were charged 7 dollars if you wanted a Latte or Cappuccino. The spa was not very welcoming and there was not the privacy when getting changed and during the treatment. Although we saw a lot of maintenance going on there was definitely a lot more work needed on the walkways. The pool had some work done to it however this was not appealing. We have been lucky enough to visit the Maldives before at an other resort which we feel gave excellent value in comparison to Safari. We would not return to this resort.

The accommodation was clean . Room was beautifully made up everyday. Location was out of this world. The staff were amazing , nothing was too much trouble. Riffithitha and Hussan in the bars were brilliant fun. Waheed our waiter in the restaurant was attentive knew what we wanted to drink and it would be waiting for us at our mealtime.
