You can’t beat the view over the lake when dining outside, but the food was a huge disappointment. The $20 Heirloom Tomato Salad presentation was attractive, except it was a large slice of an underripe tomato with some smaller tomatoes and missing the olive oil, soused beet, balsamic, the Fogo Island smoked sea salt and the goat cheese crema, rendering it pretty tasteless. When we asked for balsamic, our waitress said they didn’t have any, so we asked that she speak to the chef; she returned 10 minutes later with a tiny little container for two salads. (We gave up on asking for the remainder of the missing salad ingredients. We just asked for salt and pepper.) We ended up using the fresh ginger from the sushi our fellow diner had to provide some (any) flavour. The Potato Brandade that came with the halibut was excellent, but the halibut was overcooked. The pork tenderloin was good but the Fondant Potato had been precooked, warmed up and dry. This was a birthday dinner and needless to say, we were very disappointed. It’s a shame as the setting is so pretty and there is a large local population of cottagers and residents that would frequent the dining room if they stepped up their food quality. Hopefully they can sort this out before the summer season is in full swing.
