City Hotel Glarnerland

We had booked one night there to cut down on our drive between locations. This hotel has an unstaffed front desk and was supposed to email us a security code to enter the hotel 48 hours prior to check in. When we didn’t receive it we tried calling ******* (used to book the hotel). The AI chat only told us we will receive a code when we told it no code had been received. Next we called the hotel number (the day before check in) and were told that a code would be sent to us. The next day while driving to the hotel we still had not received a code so we called the hotel again. This time they said if we arrive when the adjoining restaurant is open someone will help us. We were concerned for two days that we couldn’t enter the hotel we booked months earlier. When we arrived the restaurant was open and a wonderful lady named Daniela helped us get into the hotel’s security system. We had a wonderful dinner at the restaurant and Daniela even helped translate the menu. The restaurant doesn’t look like much for atmosphere but the food was outstanding. The restaurant is at the front of the hotel and there is a train track across the street. The sound proofing was good and we heard little noise when the train passed. The restaurant has a small/limited bar. Our room was at the far end of the hotel and we didn’t hear any train noise. However, our room had a paper thin door connecting the room next to ours. We could hear every word of the conversation next door. After listening to this for half an hour while trying to sleep I pounded on the door and the noise stopped. Again no front desk staff to call. The room was new and nice. Once we took the wrong elevator to what we thought was the main floor and came out at an “event” room. The room was large…I would not want to be staying at this hotel when an event was scheduled!! Bottom line we feel this was built as an event center for the town and they pick up some extra money pretending to be a hotel between events. Bott

not recommendable at all. we stayed there for one night, after a very long hike, and the self check in took a decade even with pre-check in, in advance. it was difficult and annoying. no service or personal at all, because they have been distracted… then there was a huge balkan wedding with almost 200 people, they didn’t tell us about before. it was incredibly loud till 1 am in the morning. the bass was so strong that we could feel it in our bones. couldn’t believe that gonna happen in a hotel, but it seems to be a normal thing there. so we had a bad sleep at all. the room is ok, the light is rather poor but the equipment at all is good. the breakfast was not 4star-like, not varied enough. What a disappointment and exhausting experience. ———————-//// Überhaupt nicht empfehlenswert. Wir haben nach einer sehr langen Wanderung eine Nacht dort verbracht, und der Self-Check-in hat trotz Vorab-Check-in eine Ewigkeit gedauert. Es war schwierig und nervig. Kein Service oder Personal, weil alle abgelenkt waren… Dann gab es eine riesige Balkanhochzeit mit fast 200 Gästen, von der man uns vorher nichts erzählt hatte. Es war unglaublich laut bis 1 Uhr morgens. Der Bass war so stark, dass wir ihn bis in die Knochen spüren konnten. Ich hätte nicht geglaubt, dass so etwas in einem Hotel passiert, aber dort scheint es normal zu sein. Deshalb haben wir überhaupt nicht geschlafen bis 1 uhr morgens. Das Zimmer ist ok, das Licht ist eher schlecht, aber die Ausstattung ist insgesamt gut. Das Frühstück war nicht 4-Sterne-mäßig, nicht abwechslungsreich genug. Was für eine Enttäuschung und eine anstrengende Erfahrung.

Familienbetrieb. Sehr sehr freundlich und unglaublich gastfreundlich! Die Zimmer sehr geräumig, auch das Bad. Alles auf neuestem Stand und hochwertig. Wir haben uns super wohl gefühlt hier. Das Frühstück reichhaltig und abends gibt es auch ein Resto im Hotel. Onlinecheckin Automat funktioniert super. Tiefgarage gibt’s auch. Das komplette Personal ist wirklich extrem aufmerksam! Tip top !

Moderne Zimmerausstattung… trotz nahem Zugverkehr ganz ruhiges Zimmer… sehr gutes Essen… das Frühstück war toll und so vielfältig…kostenfreie Tiefgarage… sehr herzliche Bedienung und ein toller Küchenchef… ……………………………………………………

Positive Chambre spacieuse et moderne Kitchenette avec machine expresso Parking souterrain Le Petit déjeuner est très bon, surtout pour les lève-tôt Isolation des fenêtres impeccables. Nous avons bien dormi malgré le train qui passe devant. Le repas soigné au restaurant le soir Négative Maison fantôme sans accueil ni réception Le check ing se fait à un appareil bête sans intelligence artificielle Manque l’éclairage sous les meubles de la kitchenette La chambre à deux minis spots sur la table de nuit, mais l’éclairage manque. C’est un trou foncé comme une grotte Le très grand lit peu confortable est très haut, entouré de bois lourd, se compose d’une planche en bois avec un matelas, sans sommier en lattes, comme nous avons l’habitude en Suisse. L’hôtel n’est pas climatisé

Wirklich tolles großes Zimmer, mit großem Balkon, kompletter Küchenzeile inkl. Wasserkocher, Kühlschrank, Kaffeemaschine und großem Bad. Alles sehr sauber. Das Hotel liegt in einem Gewerbegebiet und ist in ca. 5 Minuten von der Autobahn erreichbar. WLAN ist gratis und funktioniert. Das Hotel hat eine kostenfreie Tiefgarage für Gäste. Check-In und -Out laufen ohne Personal ab. Das hat zwar technisch alles geklappt, ist aber doch etwas unpersönlich. Eine Rechnung für die Firma muss man gezielt anfragen (das hat dann aber geklappt). Frühstück ist typisch Schweizerisch und ziemlich gut. Leider wird immer noch sehr viel einzeln verpackt gereicht, so dass man doch recht viel Müll produziert.
