Mudras Grove Resort, Nainital

This hotel stands as a textbook example of poor management. It is evident that the owner is largely disengaged from the day-to-day operations, having left the property in the hands of an untrained and indifferent staff. I have stayed in reputed hotels across the globe, but none have tested my patience and trust quite like this one. One of the most upsetting experiences was related to a special request I made for my parents' 50th anniversary. A senior member of the marketing team confidently assured me that their in-house chef bakes excellent cakes. Trusting this, I placed an order expecting a quality celebration. To our shock and disappointment, the cake provided was of substandard quality. The bread was hard and clearly not freshly baked. When I requested to speak with the chef, I was told to wait until the next morning. Eventually, during checkout, we learned the unfortunate truth...the hotel doesn’t have a bakery chef at all, and the cake had been purchased from a local shop. This misleading information led to a deeply embarrassing moment for me in front of my family, who had trusted me to ensure everything would be perfect. The state of cleanliness was outright appalling. Despite the hotel being practically deserted the previous night, no effort had been made to prepare our rooms. Sticky tables, layers of dust on the floor, and ants crawling up the walls made it feel like we had checked into an abandoned building, not a functioning hotel. It was as if the rooms hadn’t been cleaned in over a week. To make matters worse, even with a completely empty property, we were forced to wait until exactly 12:00 PM for check-in only to walk into filthy, neglected rooms that should never have been offered to guests in that condition. It’s disheartening to say this because I genuinely believe the property has potential. However, due to the mismanagement, false promises, and lack of basic hospitality standards, my experience was filled with frustration and embarrassment. I hope the management seriously reconsiders how this hotel is run and makes the much needed improvements before more guests leave with the same regret that I did.

The place and surroundings are naturally beautiful and the owners add warmth to the place. They are extremely helpful and know the place well too. They have a decent spread of the local food in their menu. It’s a pity that we missed it because side it needs to be pre ordered (In case you are keen - do check the time lines to order the same) Breakfast spread is quite limited with just a few items, which made me feel more like a home stay than a hotel, everything else is chargeable on order. There is a lot of space to play and carry out various activities for a group of people. There is a lot of recreation - musical instruments, board games, darts, foosball, tt table. The approach is very hill like which makes it unique. Pet friendly and a lot of scenic views too ! Special thanks to Rosy and Gaurav! Overall great but too expensive for the kind of facilities they provide.
