Itmenaan Estate in the Himalayas

We returned after 6 years to find Thikalna small house and our cottage on the main estate, Deodar Cottage, were just as beautiful and well-appointed as on our previous visit in 2018, if not even better. We stayed 2 nights at Deodar and it was so lovely! My husband did a fair bit of walking but I mainly enjoyed the view and the wildlife. The food is great. We mainly had veg Indian but their were other choices on offer and Amit, the manager, offered us a change so we had Chinese one night. Thikalna is a small house where we stayed 1 night. You get a different Himalayan view here. Thikalna may have electricity soon - however Shivraj and Ramesh cooked us a lovely meal and we tucked ourselves up with the hot water bottles they provided, then awoke to the amazing view and a cup of chai. You need to be fairly sprightly to cope with the short walks to both properties - but if you are you’ll be rewarded by an amazing stay. We’re in our 70s and managed fine. The dahi (yogurt) and meusli we had for breakfast at the main house were just superb!

Itmenan Estate came as a saving grace for us and thankfully it turned out to be the best decision! We were staying at a nearby property which turned to be a very bad experience and thankfully Itmenaan had exactly 2 rooms available for 2 nights. As mentioned in other reviews their staff goes above and beyond to make the stay comfortable, happy and a memorable one. Must mention Pranaya was of great help and Bhavna left no stone is unturned to make us feel special Best part was that my dog was loved and pampered by each and every staff member, she actually enjoyed more than us. Food is DELICIOUS, loved the gharwali thali. We had a picnic lunch down the hill which was gracefully organised by the staff, it was short trek from the resort. That was definitely the highlight of our stay. They also organised a lovely candle lit dinner for us which made our evening super special. Staff is suuuuuper helpful and courteous. Rooms are well maintained and beautifully done up. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

We spent the next 4 nights at Itmenaan Estate under the staff’s excellent care led by Bhavna, the hands-on Manager, and Amit Kandpal, in charge of the 3 properties. We were lodged in a beautiful 2 level standalone cottage, with clear views of the Himalayas from our bedroom, a sitting room downstairs & a small courtyard where we enjoyed bonfires on all evenings over conversations, drinks & snacks with another active & enjoyable guest family from Bangalore. The days were spent in enjoying the estate, gazing at the snow-capped Himalayan peaks all day long, taking moderately difficult mountain treks, village walks, visiting the beautifully located Ramkrishna Kutir in Almora, stopping at abandoned temples, enjoying a lovely picnic with lunch arranged by the property on a hill top with stunning views of the forests and the Himalayas with our new-founded traveller Bangalore friends, enjoying the delicious local & European dinners on 2 evenings served, & time spent in the premises surrounded by forests, vibrant mountain flowers & baby pine trees…not to forget the 7 friendly dogs owned by Bhavna, nudging & pawing you, pleading to be petted.

This is our 1st visit to this property. Very good property with great view,great ambience, great service. Ms.Bhavna is so helpful in everything. Food is excellent. Mr.Amit had taken care from start to end. Definitely we suggest our other friends this property

Awesome place, with delicious food and excellent service. It is a highly recommended place close to nature. The village walk was a memorable experience. It is a must-visit place in the Hatke destination category. It is an off-beat destination of unique quality in its way.

True to it's name -Itmenaan , the estate offers tranquility serenity & unparalleled esthetic charm. We had traveled to Itmenaan in Jun 2024 for a short 03 day break & accompanying us was our fur baby -Simba. The team not only took great care to make our stay comfortable but also ensured that Simba has an unforgettable paw-cation. The team at Itmenaan is dedicated to living up & upholding the richness/values of the kumaoni culture. Special mention to Uday Singh Ji who would ensure that you get the maximum from the guided trail & village walks & to Bhawna for her hospitality & happy go lucky attitude. I would recommend this place to all .
