Naries Namakwa Retreat

A great stopover if you are going to Namibia from Cape Town. Delicious dinner was served and very comfortable chalets. Its a beautiful area to walk and run in and very private. Highly recommended. Pack your hiking stuff and your camera, there are lots of interesting birds and animals.

We stayed nights on our way to Namibia. We had stayed 10 years ago and much was the same though it was very quiet. The accommodation is unique and is an amazing experience. Feels it needs a little upgrading. Bianca was great, rest of staff friendly, but probably need more training Food was ok, but there is a limited choice. Dining area needs to have a little character injected.

We had a great (very short) stay thank you and wish we'd had more time to explore. The lady we met first was very kind, then Bianca was great at dinner answering our many questions and the food was absolutely delicious - congrats again to the chef! Our room was lovely & large. What an interesting place you have, extraordinary landscapes. I applaud the conservation ethic & I hope you can encourage more scientific research of this fascinating biome.

Had a pleasant stay, unfortunately the self catering chalets were not as neat as could be, some cutlery were dirty and the blinds need some cleaning and fixing and there was lots of bugs lying around.

We had a two night stay. It was a year of waiting and we were not disappointed! The staff were accommodating, professional and empathetic as we had personal challenges that prevented us going the previous year. Susan, the booking manager went out of her way help us. Much appreciated! We highly recommend Naries to any tourists especially if you want to get away from it all. The flowers were spectacular!

We stayed here for a night in late August 2024. We had a twin bedded Manor House room for R4200 (2 pax, DB&B). The reserve is beautifully situated and obviously well cared for, perfect for hiking and the outdoors. Fantastic trails and views in a most unusual landscape. Our room was a bit dark and not very cheerful, with some mismatched furniture, but reasonably comfortable. My single duvet felt like a narrow piece of foam rubber, and the pillows were too firm and too high for my liking. Bathroom a good size, and shower decent. We had a broccoli soup and an ostrich carpaccio for starters, both of which were bland and tasteless. The sirloin steaks, with gravy, roast potatoes and grilled veggies were excellent but could have done with a spot of creamed horseradish. Dessert was an average caramel cheesecake. The dining room, except for its great views, is completely without ambience. Breakfast was generous and tasty. The front of house staff on arrival were well-meaning but clearly lacking in both training and inclination. The more experienced service staff were much better. Overall, the retreat is somewhat over-priced. The self- catering accommodation looked much more inviting.
