Ahilya by the Sea

Ahilya by the Sea lived up to its name. The gentle waves serenaded us to sleep each night. By morning we watched the fishermen haul in their nets. The setting was idyllic, with outdoor terraces and pools to lounge by. The beds were comfortable. The rooms charming. The food terrific. The staff were incredibly helpful. Our only regret was we were not there longer.

Peaceful oasis by the sea. Perfect luxury boutique hotel to unwind at, with excellent food and very attentive service. Rooms are beautifully decorated and the outside areas provide lots of privacy. It offers very different experience to many of the busier hotels and areas in Goa. Just kick back and relax

What a fabulous property! We had an excellent welcome and were well looked after by all of the very attentive staff. We stayed in the Suite which was very large and had a great view. The main infinity pool area was lovely with lots of space to relax. There were several lounge areas to read and relax in. Food and drink was excellent, particularly the breakfasts. I would highly recommend a couple of days in this relaxing and historic property.

We stayed in the Nascente Suite, which I think is the best choice. The view is incredible, with no major buildings in the sightline, only the beach and the green coast and a little village with fishing boats, cows and a few local lads playing cricket. We immediately canceled our restaurant plans for our three days in Goa, preferring to have cocktails while gazing at the sunsets and eating at their little restaurant. The best food and the best service we had anywhere on this trip. And the view!

Wow !! Right from the person handling reservations to the final escort to our parked car, it was as perfect as a stay can be. The sea splashes directly into the hotel sea-wall and the views were wonderful. So was the room with a small snag - need an option for curtains in the shower. Equal to the views was the service. Warm (but not overbearing as in some 5*) and super-efficient. I would rate it a notch above Oberoi and Evolve back. The breakfast buffet is limited and a small hack for that - add a couple of chargeable items. You may need to inform them beforehand and they are eager to please. What more could I ask for ? This was my first stay at a boutique hotel and loved the experience so much that have taken some recommendations from the manager Smitaji for future stays.

Where do I begin? My affair with Ahilya started last year when I visited & it was love at first sight! For me: It is the most “PERFECT” place I have been to! Being a nature-lover & a monsoon-lover, there is no better place to visit in the rains to slow down, unwind, breathe & find peace . . which you get, the minute you enter this place. Like Ghalib would say – “Jaise bemaar ko be-wajha karaar aa jaye” Full marks & more to the Management Team Of course, you have a “Gem” in terms of location, views, landscaping, décor & vibe – but it is you who deserves all the kudos for training & managing the place & staff in the unique way you do. STAFF : always around yet invisible. Constantly working at customer delight. Perfect attention to detail – the right mix of personal, yet so professional FOOD : The bestest! Taste, presentation – full points. I requested Chef Shamsher Singh for a kathi roll (once I got to know that he’s from Kolkata) & he churned out an exceptionally yummy one Special mention : Samson, Anjana, Brigita, Ajay, Anish, Cynthia, Denzil, Aman & all others not mentioned here – you are all doing a great job! I will keep coming back every year. Hopefully, multiple times a year! My regards to Sir Richard Holkar! Best wishes
