The Jagdhof hotel is situated in a beautiful position with a direct view of the Stubai Glacier. This was our second visit in 3 months as my partner is an avid skier. We particularly loved the high-end refurbished rooms and en suite bathrooms. They are spacious with exceptionally comfortable beds and there is storage space for everything. The heated floors keep a cozy warmth within and this is perfect for drying out walking boots and ski jackets. I feel the view and the room furnishing are the main reasons we came back to The Jagdhof again. In contrast, the restaurant, bar area and spa are typically Austrian and very rustic. That said, the spa offers many different things to try and the more recent Spa Chalet is of the same high -end design standard as the bedrooms. It was half term and the hotel was very busy with families but the spa area was quiet and because of the many options you could always find a private corner to relax. Whilst the restaurant waiting staff were excellent and particularly Alfred who was exceptionally attentive and prompt in delivering our order, we were not so keen on the half board food choices. The five course menu had 2 choices for starter, soup, salad bar, main, dessert and also a cheese plate. The main tended to be a small piece of meat or fish with one potato, very small vegetable and sauce dotted on the plate for presentation. We would just have preferred 3 courses with a stand-out main course. Ash Wednesday was different and there was a fantastic seafood buffet for starter. This would have been lovely on a more regular basis. I took the option of snow shoe hiking with a great guide from outside. This was offered within our room rate. It was a fabulous experience and I would highly recommend it. An area for improvement would be the room charging for incidentals. On both occasions we had items on our bill that we hadn’t ordered. The system of signing a receipt at breakfast for the previous days extras does seem a bit archaic and open to mistakes. We had a receipt for signature that was to a completely different room number than our own. When highlighted at the front desk this was responded to in a defensive way with one particular member of staff. We certainly didn’t expect this reaction in a 5 star hotel. The afternoon cakes are delicious and a welcome treat. The apple strudel is always the most popular with it having been replenished 5 times one afternoon. However, still missed out on it twice and would strongly suggest fewer cake options and lots more strudel please. Also, it’s not clear whether a hot drink is included free of charge with the afternoon cake. This time around we weren’t charged but that was not the case on our last visit. I hope the feedback is helpful and constructive. We will return to The Jagdhof as it does have a unique ambience and is just a 25 minute transfer from Innsbruck.
