My family and I stay at Hampton Inn and Suites properties quite often when we travel. The properties are always clean and neat, and mostly up to date. The property in New Braunfels, Texas had a number of "misses". First, the entrance is accessed either by driving through a gas station or a ***** center that faces Hwy 46. It is NOT clearly marked, and although we could see the hotel from the road, we made several attempts to enter the parking lot before we found the right way in. Check in was efficient, and it was nice that we had a full housekeeping service each day of our stay. I do appreciate that many hotels have gone to full-size lotions, etc, and that seems to generate less waste, which is a good thing. I really wish that these items were unscented. The hand soap and body lotion available was so highly scented that I didn't want to use it. I'm not usually scent sensitive, but those two lotions were so strong that they were unbearable. Also, there were several facial cleansing bars at the sink, which we opened and used each day, but were picked up and tossed by housekeeping. And, towels were hung to be reused, and they were taken and replaced by housekeeping as well. Seems so wasteful. Bare light bulbs were overhead in the desk area, which seemed both unsightly and a little dangerous. And on our check-out day, housekeeping knocked at our door before 9am when checkout was not even for another couple of hours. We had had a busy day and late night the day before, and didn't appreciate the wake up earlier than planned. Lastly, breakfast options were pretty boring - not up to the Hampton Inn quality that we're used to.
