Cuyama Buckhorn

The Buckhorn is a special place that has stolen our hearts! We have fallen in love with The Hidden Valley of Enchantment and make an annual trip to the Buckhorn for the amazing food and drinks, awesome pool and hot tub, and the gorgeous scenery. Very friendly staff and plenty of on-site activities. We love feeling a million miles away from civilization.

Everything was great. The staff - Megan in the restaurant and Sam in the bar were wonderful ambassadors for the hotel, bar and restaurant. The place is unique and a quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The pool and hot tub and sauna a very nice addition. The bar makes you feel you are in the old west.

We had booked a two-bedroom, but upon arrival, we were told that their system showed a booking for a one-bedroom, despite the fact that I had the confirmation and payment receipt for a two-bedroom through *******. Eventually, as compensation, they provided us with two single rooms and mentioned that the heater in one of the rooms was not working, offering us a small fan heater instead. To our surprise, the heaters in both rooms were not functioning. After spending an hour or two trying to fix the issue, they brought small electric heaters for both rooms, which were insufficient. We ended up spending the night in discomfort and cold. The next day, they did offer us a 15% discount due to the inconvenience. Naturally, with such issues, I can’t give a high rating. However, had these problems not occurred, I would have given them a high score because the hotel’s ambiance, tranquility, cleanliness of the rooms, and quality of the food were all very good like 9 out of 10.
