Black Dolphin Inn

I've traveled all over the world and stayed in some pretty remarkable hotels and rooms, but the Black Dolphin Inn is at the top of my list. We were there for three nights and simply loved it. The room had it's own entrance from outside, a suite, wonderfully appointed and incredibly quiet. We were looking for a few days to just relax and this was the place. It's also pet friendly, which is how we found it in the first place. The only thing more impressive than the Inn is the staff. Everyone is terrific, accommodating and always available. They have a nice breakfast with a three-item menu, changing each day. The Chef is terrific, again fitting in with the accommodating style of the Inn, even though it's a small menu. Nothing beats sitting outside for breakfast and enjoying the courtyard as well. It's only a short drive to town, both the tourist area on Flagler and the more historic sites on Canal St. When I was trying to decide on suggesting this trip to my wife, I had a great phone conversation with the owner, Brett Smith. Never having been in New Smyrna Beach, he was an incredible help. Considering that it was a cold call with no knowledge of the Inn or the area, Brett was the reason I booked the room! And it was beyond expectations. This is a wonderful place to stay - outrageously peaceful and we'll definitely be heading back again in the near future.

This place is amazing, from the time you pull up front and see the street view. Then when you see the water view from your balcony. I found my Florida happy place!!! Jen the host is amazing, helped us with dinner reservations and decided to stay a 2 nd night. The breakfast was fantastic and brought up to your room. Very romantic, for couples and accommodating for families and dogs as well. Can't wait to come back. We always stayed at the Chateau Inn in Spring Lake NJ and found out same owners as Black Dolphin Inn. Soo happy to have found this place!!! Highly recommend. My husband and I celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary. Thank you!!

This is a great place to stay with a very welcoming staff. It has a Mediterranean vibe to it and the rooms are quite modern. Breakfast is excellent and there are restaurants within walking distance. The Indian River is right outside your front door. There are 14 rooms and the inn has an interesting history. Check it out!

We arrived home about 3 hours ago from our vacation at Black Dolphin Inn, and we enjoyed it so much that I just booked another stay in September. There were no negatives at all! Every staff member that we met was amazing! The location is great, and the breakfast was the best we've ever had at a hotel/inn. The deluxe bay view room was very spacious and spotless. We're so happy that we found this gem for our future New Smyrna Beach vacations! You will not regret choosing Black Dolphin Inn!!

We only had time for one night on our trip to NSB but we plan to re-visit as soon as we can. Everything about the Black Dolphin Inn was wonderful. We spent our morning enjoying a delicious breakfast trying to figure out how we could squeeze in another night but alas. We wanted for nothing - super comfortable beds, very nice bath, tv, wi-fi, a gorgeous sunrise, easy parking and a very nice host in Brett. A charming spot - we loved it!

We stayed in the Honeymoon suite to celebrate our fortieth wedding anniversary and it was perfect! We arrived at lunch time, said we’d be back after lunch, and when we did we were able to check in early. Thanks for the champagne waiting for us in the frig! Our room was clean and spacious, and we loved being able to sit on the balcony with our river view. Very quiet and serene. The inn is located within a small neighborhood, it was nice walking around, looking at beautiful homes still decorated from Christmas, and walking distance to shops and restaurants. Bring comfortable walking shoes! Brett made us feel very welcome, and his wife is adorable. This is family run, and you can tell they pour their love into what they do. Thanks for such an enjoyable stay; we will be back!

Wonderful stay right in my own back yard. best staff in hospitality and great food to start your day. The dock had dolphins at it daily and the neighborhood is so quiet and inviting. Very peaceful stay for the two of us. Highly recommended.

A charming bed and breakfast on the river in new Smyrna beach where each room has a private balcony offering views of the waterfront or a tranquil garden. The rooms are large and very nicely decorated with well appointed bathrooms. The comfortable bed greeted us after a long day at Daytona and ormond beach. The owners personally serve a wonderful breakfast delivered to your room or the outdoor area of choice and Jennifer, the innkeeper ensures your stay is perfect and memorable. We will be back!

My husband and I stayed in suite 303 at the Black Dolphin Inn the week of March 5, 2024. Having stayed in Select Registry inns before, we chose this property with confidence, knowing we would be pampered and have excellent amenities. We spent Wednesday at Disney (1.5 hour drive) and Friday at the Kennedy Space Center (less than an hour drive). Thursday, we rested, then walked down to Canal street and enjoyed the shopping. Every restaurant and shop recommended to us was a treat. The breakfasts were delicious, whether served in the main area or delivered to the room. Each day, we enjoyed our jetted tub, as well as our private balcony (and the squirrel that kept us company). The pocket doors between the bedroom and sitting room gave us more freedom in our divergent sleep schedules. Hubby says next time he would prefer a ground level room. There were plenty of stairs, but the view was worth it, in my opinion!
