Very nice place for a quiet time off, really enjoyed staying here with my partner. I will definitely comeback - since no issues. Only problem is the ceiling due it’s a bit moldy

The place was very quirky with its beems and lay out. Food was lovely, staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms a good size and the beds comfy. Nice location by the river. Only reason it's not 5 out of 5 is because it needs a lick of paint In some areas. Picky I know. But a lovely place to stay. Thank you

Stayed here on 2/7/24 in room 10. The room was clean & comfortable but the door wouldn’t lock from the inside & we had someone walk into our room late at night. Fortunately we had a chain across. Breakfast sadly was cold & staff refunded payment.

We stayed for two nights here and would definitely recommend! The beds were so comfy and rooms really clean. Thank you sooo much to Carolynne, Alan and the people working Tuesday night so we could swap rooms, everyone went above and beyond for us :) Thank you to housekeeping also who were great!

Visited with my son. Lovely friendly reception by the lady who was working, sorry didn’t get her name. She is a credit to your company. Food was fine, nothing exceptional. We have a Marston’s pub near us with the same menu. Food was slightly different though. Waited ages for my dessert. When it arrived it was a large quite dry chocolate sponge. The ice cream was very watery and tasteless. Nothing like the Marstons near me.

Had to make an emergency stop at this hotel. Despite having no booking the receptionist who was also running the bar was extremely helpful and booked us in with no fuss. The bedroom overlooked the River Trent and not surprisingly we were woken at 5am by Canada Geese honking. The bed was very comfortable and the ensuite had an excellent shower. We ate in the restaurant which was very reasonable pub fare washed down with a very good pint of Marstons Pedigree. Although it was a Wednesday night the pub was busy with locals eating which is a good sign. The service was excellent with very friendly staff.

Had a lovely meal there today 15.3.24.The starters, prawn cocktail, halloumi fries. Crispy squid were gorgeous. Scampi was great, nice and hot really lovely. Very busy but well looked after by the waitress. The food has definitely changed for the better so compliments to the chef

The pub was welcoming and clean I was served by a very friendly and polite member of staff called Carolynne, I was acknowleged as soon as i entered the bar area. I was offered a food menu and a drink while I was deciding what to order to eat. She brought the drink over to my table. I had a mixed grill, it was cooked perfectly. I would recommend the pub to anyone as its clean tidy cosy and well priced.

What has happened to Marsdens? We had a shocking experience. We had pre booked several days before as a few weeks ago we couldn’t get a meal without booking (even though the pub was empty!!). The first disappointment was they had no Sunday dinner left (it is advertised on the menu as ALL DAY Sunday roast!! So, my husband plumped for fish and chips, what could go wrong there? No fish OR CHIPS left!! OMG how can a restaurant like this run out of chips?? there were several other things not available on the menu also. My husband had hunters chicken and asked for a side salad with extra onion. The chicken breast was a skinny thing, half a breast at best! They had run out of chips so he had sweet potato fries, which were overcooked and hard. The salad was a bit of limp leaf and a tiny bit of onion. I had the sausage and mash. Again, I asked for an extra portion of veg and when my meal came it was a portion of mash which looked like it had been stewing for hours, like gloop with three overcooked sausages and Aldi instant type gravy, no onion in it. The extra veg was a few peas tipped on the side (actually the best part of the meal.) We both complained and I received a bowl of totally overcooked mange tout and green beans, which looked like again they had been sitting since dinner time. The waitress said they had no onion left. We had been working hard all day and were starving, the only reason we ate this mess of a plate of food. A lady came out at the end and made the mistake of asking us if everything had been ok? We complained again and she brought out a fresh bowl of salad with a whole onion chopped up in it!! So they did have onion after all!! By this time we were frankly thoroughly peed off and just left. If we hadn’t already paid for the food we wouldn’t have, it was proper pants!! I will be contacting head office about this terrible experience, a stock so sorry by the manager is NOT fixing these problems. The lady who talked to us said there was no chef in, well why not let us know so we could have eaten elsewhere!!
