Lovely room and breakfast

This is a lovely hotel .. perfect location right next to the racecourse which is an absolute bonus ! First impressions are important and The Lodge staff were so welcoming, friendly , pleasant and helpful .. nice to see staff who really seem to enjoy their job. Our room was spotless and had everything we needed Bed was very comfy, nice smelling toiletries and fluffy towels . Yes the room was fairly small but no issue . Well stocked bar and pleasant atmosphere and appears to be popular with visitors and local residents alike . We also had a lovely cooked breakfast . We can’t fault The Lodge we had a great time . Thankyou we are planning to return in October .

Attended for a wedding, so had no choice in my location. I went to ask at reception about checking in, as the room was due to be ready during the ceremony, I was told my only option was to come after I had finished my evening, and check in then. The receptionist was very rude. I missed out on maybe 8 hours of my booked room that as an autistic adult would have been really beneficial to have a space to get away from the bustle of the wedding. Upon gaining access to my room I was appauled by how filthy it was, with horrible marks in the toilet. And the hallways seemed like they had never been hoovered. There was also no tea or coffee facilities in the room. There were areas of fencing on the grounds broken and torn up. For such an expensive place I expected more. They also charged 2 different prices for the same drink. Clearly taking advantage of it being a wedding and hoping people wouldn't notice.

What a fantastic experience! I stayed for 1 night as it was near my business meeting location and the hotel was fabulous. Special mention for the great morning service at breakfast - the food was fresh and great portion sizes and the staff who were friendly , approachable and willing to go above and beyond - the members of staff who served me and ensured the experience was 10/10 were Gemma and Edna . Would definitely recommend!

I'll start with the room is lovely, small but lovely. The staff are really friendly. However the biggest let down is the food, I can't say I've had a good meal at this place. Which is a shame . Other than that a nice place to stay if your not eating.

A small room, with no desk, no chair, no wardrobe only a small hanging rail, very poor TV reception on many channels, a kettle that doesn't switch off, the toilet is close to the wall not giving much room especially as the toilet roll holder is now in your side, the shower was ok once you were in and able to shut the door. The room was clean the staff helpful and friendly, I can't comment on the breakfast as I had to leave each day before breakfast which was at 7.

Stopped in here for a hot drink whilst my daughter was having a settling in session at the adjacent nursery. The lady on reception/ the bar with long blonde hair was exceptionally warm, friendly and empathetic on each occasion (Tuesday 21st PM and Wednesday 22nd PM). Very much appreciated by an anxious mum. Thank you!

We arrived, and we were warmly greeted and given our room. To open our door was quite tough as it was like a new carpet had been put in and the door was too long. We went in , and it was quite cold, but we were able to turn a radiator on. The bed was huge and took up most of the room. There was a pouffe and a table with coffee tea, etc, but no chair (although it would have been a struggle to get a chair in). There was also a Tv, a mirror, and an open hanging area with coat hangers and a coat hook. All very functional but small. The decor was ok but seemed a little dated. However, it was all very clean. The bathroom was functional with some lovely smelling soap. The shower was ok but not strong. I did find it odd that there was no fan or similar to clear the steam/ condensation but also any smells. It was very quiet while we were there and the bed was comfortable so had an excellent nights sleep. We paid for breakfast and we found it was a good full English and there was cereal etc available as well. There was good friendly service. Parking is available and lifts to all floors. Overall, it was a good hotel for 1 or 2 nights. The staff were a particular bonus as they were all friendly and helpful.

I booked this hotel last minute at a good rate for, what looked like a great hotel. It’s easy to find and parking is plentiful plus there’s no denying it’s setting gives it the wow factor. Throughout the hotel it is tastefully decorated in the racecourse theme. Check in was swift and easy. Got to my room on the second floor and on checking the room found the interconnecting door to be unlocked. I tried to call down to reception to report it but no answer. The bathroom is small but functional. I’ve seen lots of reviews saying the rooms are small - they’re not the largest but I wouldn’t class it as small by any means, certainly not for a 1 or 2 night stay. The bed was enormous, nicely made and clean. However, there were numerous issues in the room: - if was dusty and I mean it hadn’t seen a duster in a while. The shelving around the bed, the bedside lights, tissue box, kettle etc were covered in dust. - the stool in the room was disgustingly dirty as was the curtain pelmet (see pics) - the kettle was full of limescale and when it boiled the lid popped open and sprayed boiling water everywhere - the lamp on the very small desk had no bulb in - no where to fry/ straighten your hair near a mirror - plug holes were dirty - there’s been a leak through to the bathroom ceiling which had been left and the back of the door was dirty - I got in the shower and wet my hair to find the body and hair wash was empty and hadn’t been replaced (it took 3 attempts to get a replacement) - walls are paper thin, I hope my neighbour didn’t think he was having a private phone conversation! Food and drink is basic. I had a panini and it seemed to have been microwaved. My Diet Pepsi was served to me still in the can albeit I was given a glass and ice with it. I can’t comment on the full breakfast as I only had poached eggs but they were nicely cooked. The continental options are very limited. Staff were all friendly and did try and help with the issues raised but I can’t recommend this hotel and wouldn’t choose to stay again.
