Newport News Marriott at City Center

Kyle, the Front Desk rep is super efficient and accommodating!! We have a great view and nice room too! Saw him in action last night, July 22, when there was a false fire alarm in the building. He was calm and made sure that the guests won't panic. Great job, Kyle ! This location is superb and close to everything.

The "good": Check in was prompt and courteous. Room was clean and well maintained. Bed was comfortable. Soundproofing was excellent. The "could be better": Key card for elevator took several tries to get it to register so a floor number could be chosen. The floors of the elevators were disgracefully filthy and sticky and not tended to even after notifying the staff. The ice machine on the 5th floor was not working, nor was the one on the 4th floor. I reported it to the front desk on Saturday and they said they would have Maintenance check it immediately. (They filled my ice bucket for me.) On Sunday, I returned to the front desk for ice since the machines were still not working. They checked to see if it had been reported on Saturday and it had not. There was only ONE coffee dispenser in the lobby which clearly was not enough for the guests and was frustratingly empty (though they filled it when notified). A glass in the bathroom was not provided and should be considered a necessity. PARKING TIP! The website indicates self parking is $6 per day ($12/day for valet parking). However, across the street on Pearl Way there is an 8-deck FREE PARKING GARAGE.

The Newport News City Center Hotel is always my first choice. Absolut top notch service. Staff is supper friendly and I always look forward to seeing Ms Vivian for breakfast. She takes the best care of me. I never leave hungry or without a to go coffee. Thank you Ms Vivian!! VR/ Mark

Once again Marriott Newport News delivers. Stayed for a tennis tourney and as is always true, Vivian took great care of us every morning. Bella helped too and Cindy’s delicious creations helped fuel our days to fun and frolic on the tennis courts! Thanks Vivian …. Again you are the standard by which all others must be judged! You are the best!!!

Very friendly reception, door man, and restaurant personnel. Especially, VIVIAN AND JORDAN in the restaurant and the Barkeepers. The manager always ready to listen to compliments or suggestions. I had 2 stays this summer. In both rooms I could hear conversations from nearby rooms through a small vent near the bed and no I didn't have my ear at the vent. The rooms are getting to the point of a necessary updating BUT VERY CLEAN. There was only one bathroom amenity, they could leave a list of what could be requested at the front desk. Please get new duvet covers. These come off and get all tangled up. And please get something new on the menu. Especially in the sandwich department. Sometimes a simple BLT or Turkey sandwich is nice. It was nice to have a mini-fridge and coffee maker in the room.

The folks who waited on us for breakfast were wonderful! Vivian, Neka and Jaheme were attentive and always had a smile on their face! Vivian knew us by name after the first day, and all of them were so friendly and helpful with everything else in the kitchen and otherwise!

I don’t normally leave reviews as I travel every week and stay at 45-50 hotels a year. However the service I received from the front desk and a gentleman called Kyle was so astounding I’ve had to make an effort. Give this man a raise!!! From the moment I arrived till the day I left he was always looking out for me and made me feel like a VIP. Thank you

Clean and very courteous staff. Neka & Vivian were the best servers. Rooms were cleaned daily. Staff was very helpful. WiFi was great as well as access to business center. Food was great. Highly Recommend the Breakfast. Parking was very convienant.

The front desk staff was exceptional. The Concierge was extremely friendly and very professional. The room was very clean and housekeeping did an excellent job of keeping the room maintained and replenished. The restaurant offered a wonderful buffet for breakfast, the bar was well stocked with great selections. Vivian and Neka in the restaurant went above and beyond to ensure we were well taken care of and were extremely professional.
