The Harbour

On the plus side the hotel is in a nice location right on the harbour. The staff were very friendly and helpful. However we discovered why the menu is displayed outside but with no prices! We had a cocktail each before dinner, a 175ml glass of wine and no deserts, but the bill was £136 for the two of us. The wine and drinks were simply too expensive and this was probably the first time we have not ordered a bottle of wine in a restaurant in many years! I had whitebait starter and then a small “fillet of beef” which I couldn’t eat because it was not cooked as I asked, was dry, chewy and tasteless. When I told the waitress she just said “oh sorry” and that was it. I was sick all the next day (today!). The bedroom was nice but very small and we could hear every word from the room next door till very late, including ‘toilet sounds’. We had booked breakfast but cancelled it after dinner and left early morning. We walked through town both before and after dinner and noticed all the other restaurants were crammed full whereas this one was probably less than 25% occupied. It’s a shame as the people were very nice and it could have easily been so much better. I have been in the restaurant business and the wine business and have also advised hotels and restaurants, and spend a lot of time in hotels around the country and internationally, so I could see the amazing potential! Interestingly we stayed in a Premier Inn the previous night en route, which was right on the main A30, but quiet, comfortable, larger room, nice dinner, decent bottle of wine and 2 cocktails - at half the cost!

Well what can i say but absolutely fab! The view is amazing of the Harbour & surrounding beach’s Aaron is a great host so friendly & his cooking is the best we’ve tasted in a long time If you stay or just visit the area you must book a table & sample the food He has a great team of staff especially Mary who is an absolute diamond Every morning we could rely on her for the latest weather , travel & places to visit updates everything you needed to know about Newquay over breakfast I have already booked another stay at the Hotel for next year So well done everyone at the Harbour Hotel for making our first visit to Cornwall perfect

We went here for a drink initially, we have booked to stay in the hotel in August 2024 and we wanted to see what it was like. The location is outstanding over looking the harbour. We watched seals playing in the sea. We enjoyed thr atmosphere so much there, we rhen decided to eat. Honestly, the food was amazing, fine dining in a relaxed atmosphere, you can tell the chefs take great care with the food they produce. The staff are so lovely here, friendly and helpful. We can't wait to stay here and enjoy the hotel, bar and restaurant more. Arun was a pleasure to meet.
