Stayed in Garden Room 14 , 5th -6th January. As a guest at what is advertised as a five-star resort, we anticipated a high standard of cleanliness and service; however, our experience fell far short of these expectations. We arrived at 2.30pm and were advised that our room wasn’t ready yet but would be available at the 3pm check in time. This was absolutely no problem as we appreciate we arrived early. We were given a key to room 14 and advised we could go to the room for 3pm. Upon arriving at our room, just after 3pm, we were appalled to find that our assigned room was unlocked and had not been prepared or cleaned for our stay . We were met with the previous guest's mess, which included dirty bedding, wet and stained towels on the floor, as well as other rubbish, dirty glasses, and bottles. I have attached images of the scene we arrived to. A member of staff happened to walk past and we explained the situation. He didn’t appear overly concerned, other than to advise that it was unlikely the room would be ready for 3pm. This was an odd comment considering it was now after 3pm and the room evidently wasn’t ready. He also told us ‘He would see what he could do’. Again an odd comment, were we expected to stay in the room? He did take us to the bar for a drink, but there was a real lack of apology or concern. The gentleman barely uttered a word to us, extremely poor guest services. We waited close to 40 minutes for the room to be ready, only to discover that it was still not up to standard when we arrived. At this stage we were not willing to waste more time with further complaints until we had checked out. The condition of the room was completely unacceptable. -A torn and wet visitor book -A filthy mouldy bathroom -A dirty floor with rose petals left by previous guests -Stained pillowcase -Broken toilet roll holder -Non-functional soap dispensers -Shower gel that was half empty -Shower screen uncleaned with water marks all over This is absolutely not an exhaustive list of the substandard conditions. Additionally, at close to midnight, we were disturbed by a loud domestic argument from a neighboring lodge, which included shouting, swearing and banging on the glass doors. This disruption further marred what was supposed to be a luxury and relaxing break, particularly as this trip was intended to celebrate a birthday. We were deeply disappointed that the occasion was overshadowed by all of these issues. Despite raising a formal complaint to the venue we are still no closer to a resolution more than a week later. We have requested a refund but there is no urgency from the venue and we are no further forward at this stage whilst the hotel keeps hold of our money. Avoid!
