Watermeadow Lakes & Lodges

We stayed in Kingfisher Lodge for a couple of days and found the accommodation comfortable, clean and quiet. The surroundings are beautiful - fishing lakes, stunning countryside views and a scattering of animals including horses, sheep, and goats. The staff were unobtrusive but helpful when needed. The location is convenient for countryside and coast. An excellent place for a refreshing and relaxing break.

Wanted a special treat for my partner. Found Watermeadows romantic lodges. Looking at reviews, I decided to book a two night stay. On arrival, we opened the door to the Foxglove Lodge. Wow! Wonderfully presented. Spacious with the basics for a short stay. Cups, plates, cutlery etc. with a small kitchen area. No Tv or cooker, but a microwave, kettle and fridge provided, and nice not to have the TV anyway. Pubs and restaurants nearby so you will not be short for choice. Highlight for us was the log burner jacuzzi. Quiet and private. The proprietor Gary, was very helpful on getting the burner started for us, and my partner and I, were soon enjoying star gazing in the tub! A most memorable experience. To say I was fully chilled and relaxed is an understatement. I will be definitely going back.

Me and my wife have just returned from a lovely 2 night break at this amazing place and we couldn’t recommend it enough . We stayed in one of the small romantic lodges (foxglove) Excellent lodge excellent shower very comfortable bed all set on beautiful grounds we honestly couldn’t of asked for anything else , we will definitely be returning .

We won a weekend break with a breakfast & romance hamper included. Which were Great, the photos of the place looked amazing & we thought as the price we would've paid to stay here was so high it would be good quality accommodation, but sadly that was not the case. The drive in was met with abit of a mess, old washing machines, old porta loos & bins over flowing, which was not very welcoming. The sheep were very friendly though....Unfortunately the front door was hard to open & the only way we could shut it was to lock it, the door to the bathroom would not lock or stay closed, so we had to put a weight behind it to keep it shut. Others have commented on both these problems, but nothing has been done about it. There was no champagne glasses (only 1 plastic one) or tumbler glasses for squash, water or vodka.. There was plenty of dish cloths & washing up liquid but no teatowels to dry up with so we had to buy some to use as hand towels as well as there was no hand towels in the bathroom, no floor mat in the bathroom, so we had to use the bed spread on the floor to save us from slipping on the wet floor when we got out the shower. The robes were definitely not 1 size fits all. The hot tub was OK & was all set up for us ready to light, but not very private, when we were sat in there the neighbours in the huts next door & opposite could see us from their windows. Ideally as its advertised as a romantic retreat some form of fencing would be better as the hut was very exposed to all the other accommodations. We left feeling abit deflated.

Lodge was lovely and cosy. The fire for the hot tub was laid ready to be lit. Took a little while to get up to temperature but that was expected. The owners were away and I needed to text Gary to ask a question. He answered straight away and also checked up on us a couple of times during the weekend which was a nice touch. It is rural, you do have to drive to things but there are lots of nice places to eat in the near vicinity and Crewkerne is close. A couple of really minor niggles. We didn’t have a mat for the shower which apparently should have been there. The wifi was a bit patchy and the dressing gown was a bit small. I’m a 34” waist and barely went round me! On the whole though, lovely stay, far more novel than a lot of self catering places and very peaceful.

A Twixmas break in Heron Lodge, a relaxing chill out after a “different” Christmas. What’s not to like about a cosy log lodge, a hot tub, a fishing lake and great owners who are there if you need them but not if you don’t.. yes the lodge might need a bit of tlc, touching up, but it was nicely equipped, comfortable beds, got WiFi, cosy, a nice balcony with lovely views and wildlife all around. Peace and Tranquillity abound. My only negative would be that I probably can’t book the lodge in the summer cos they are all booked already.. understandably. We will be back when we can get booked in. We would recommend without hesitation. Gary and Shona are hard working, likeable owners, and have a diamond here in Somerset.
