Two stars because all the staff are really lovely, its location, and lots of parking. However, this is NOT a suitable hotel for families sharing a room. Despite being a new hotel and plenty of USB ports dotted around the room, it seems like it was designed by AI to cram everything in for a solo traveller and costs were cut at every opportunity: - a 3/4 long bath that only allows minimal water to be put in due to the low height of the outlet - sink slightly overhanging the toilet - hanging space was a 30cm pole sticking out over a bed - pillows were flat and lumpy - minimal room between beds and no walk space - no hairdryer - no top up of soap dispenser by sink The room was clean - on the first day only. It seems as if the housekeeping team are requested not to clean even if you ask for fresh towels and the bins to be emptied. Normally we'd happily reuse our towels everyday, however there is no hanging space whatsoever for anything damp - unless you want to hang it over the bed on the ridiculous 30cm hanging pole (for 4 people??!!). If you are visiting the North East you expect rain, just don't expect any way of drying your wet clothing in these rooms. The lack of hairdryer - only realised on getting out of the shower, is not ideal. I guess they were at reception, so no problem to walk back there dripping wet in a towel. When the bins were emptied and towels replaced nothing was cleaned or wiped over - never ever had this before. Next time I'll remember to bring my own cleaning cloths as well as hairdryer, decent pillows, and clothes drying rack (not that there's any room to put the drying rack)! The space was so small, it's like the designer took typical Travelodge rooms and shrank them by 25% so they could get more in on the building footprint. Whilst all these cut backs might be great for profits, it's not great for return business. We will not be returning, which is a shame as the team are lovely and the location is perfect for exploring.
